Half-Life 2 Mayhem

i think that if they release CS:CZ TF2 and HL2 in the same day week or month it would be a good idea....for money that is cuz ima buy all three the day they come out cuz im a nubbeh!!! been playing HL since the month it came out back in November of the year 1998 and ive also played blue shift and opposing force.

As I said over on PHL I doubt there'll be a release this year. I wouldn't have thought with the amount of work Valve put into Steam and Counter-Strike over the last 1-2 years and other projects like Ricochet and more recently DOD that they would have had the time or resources to concentrate on such a big project as HL2.



I reckon that for there to be a release of Half-Life 2 this year with a new storyline, improved gameplay, new engine, new physics engine, new everything then Valve would have needed about 2-3 years work on it. Surely they wouldn't have been able to keep it quiet for so long?



Then on the other hand there was news many years ago, around the time they were JUST about managing to update us on TF2 once every 8 months, that Valve were developing their own engine. If they've carried on developing that engine then it might be possible that we see it within the next 12 months. I've also just had the thought that Valve doesn't work on CS:CZ anymore, they seem to have almost abandoned Steam and CS 1.6. In fact, as far as we've been told, all they're doing at the moment is helping the DOD team build up a retail package - that can't exactly be hard. Perhaps the lack of work on their other projects means they are concentrating their efforts on something big.

The preview in PcGamer made me drool. The engine shows you freaking dust motes!!!! O my god it looks so sweet. I take back everything negitive I ever said about valve. BTW if this is some sorta sick joke I think I'm going to go kill my self. And think about it valve hasn't released anything big. A few updates for CS and steam? I deffinently think they had enough time to make the new engine. I think its for real ppl.

Hmm... I don't see how some of the stuff he said would fit into Half-Life. Some parts of that sounded perfect for Delta Force games or Counter-Strike, but not Half-Life. If it's true then it's very exciting stuff and sounds amazing, but I just don't think it'd feel like Half-Life.



I have a feeling that the comment that "bucky" made on that forum about it sounding like someone's fantasy might turn out to be true. We should just rely on the realistic information or we'll get confused and some people might just get disappointed etc. I don't totally trust some of the stuff that gamer.nl has leaked... but at least we have official confirmation that HL2 is in progress and we'll see it at E3. That's enough to get me excited.

I didn't think the post was too farfetched until the end part where it talked about swabbing your gun barrel. That just sounds gay.



For a second I forget about Tyler's whole Project Mayhem thing and wonder how clean that gun barrel is.

I guess we can now unofficially say that it looks like Half-Life 2 is coming your way this year. Can you believe it? It's probably pretty likely that they'll release it in November to commemorate the five year anniversary of the original Half-Life. Wowzas!

yah i know this is just speculation but among everything we've heard, and the fact that valve is now going public with magazines and such, plus showing it at e3, after it being in development for years, just gives me a real strong impression that it will be released this year. everyone who has connections with valve/done interviews says the release date is a lot sonner than youd expect.



and yah, the whole cleaning the gun thing? i mean come on, that doesnt even happen in sci fi movies where you are fighting for your life. no one would want to do that.

Clean your guns? What the bloody hell are the thinking? If that actually happens, Valve can be easily refereed to as the biggest bunch of drunks on the planet Earth. I doubt it though, because that idea is just too stupid, and I'll bet no one would want it in Half Life.
