Incredible picture... "Dynamic particle system" - Y'd think that would take a little more power than that 1.7gz P4 someone was claming the game would support at 70fps...

And why does this look more and more exactly like starship troopers?
maybe it is. it should be investigated.

that crap about 1.7ghz and 70fps etc. was a load of bull mate. it was just a false rumour that went round.

you're quite right, but it looks like hl2 has a much better one.

Well you must be right, wot with the caps lock key and all.

I'm no expert but as I understood it HL doesn't have the extreme demands of a completely "dynamic" particle system, which would make far more demands on your CPU/GPU as it calculates all the dispersements on the fly connected to almost any event

More than happy for you to correct me, tho...

half-life 2 look a little, weird. not like the half-life 1 that we all knew and luff. and yea, it does look like StarShip Troopers. who knows, watch Rico and his crew or something like that be there. bleh, big rip off.

If we know Valve, which I imagine most of us do quite well, then I would expect that they'd do there very best to make sure that HL2 works on as many systems as possible. When they first started talking about CS:CZ I think I remember them emphasising that they were going to make sure CS:CZ would work on lower end systems by introducing detail levels to the models, environments and sounds. I'm sure they'd do the same for HL2. They'd lose a lot of hardcore fans if the game was too demanding - and Valve loves us just as much as we love them.

the high demands? you mean the high demands of a velocity over 3units a millisecond! Or do you mean the complex calculations involved in making it bounce off a wall!

yes deffinetely, valve will make sure it runs on more than just recent systems. i garuentee a geforce2 will have no problem running it with medium details and such. i doubt youll need the new AMD64 or a p4 3.06 and radeon 9800.

Is it really practical to debate the physics of an unreleased game engine about which neither of us have any information about? (Discuss)

i think its safe to assume that a particle engine does not take a great amount of cpu time up..
