What? -- I think that would make the most sence, THINK ABOUT IT.

Unless they make CS2 a single player title too, then WHY make it?

They have CS:CZ for that. -- I dont know HOW many people will BUY a multiplayer only game that may or may not req Halflife2 installed.

Wait, can Half-Life 2 challenge Doom 3? That's about as stupid as nighthawk not recognizing davej's sarcasm. Half-Life 2 won't merely compete with Doom 3, it will be bigger than it.

Review time boys and girls:

Half-Life had a story with scripted events and other things that made it great.

Doom was simplistic shooting single player game and not a single id game has had a good single player game by todays standards. The most recent game that comes to mind as having attempted this was RTCW but anyone who bought RTCW for the singleplayer was insane.

Half-Life has over 100,000 people currently playing it during the day. When it comes out the people who play new games then move and have moved on from Half-Life will be playing it along with nearly everyone who plays Half-Life right now.

Quake 3 is great multiplayer but id can't make single player games that are outstanding. Last I heard Doom 3 with be single player and there will be a multiplayer expansion and a mission pack. The original Half-Life got you Counter-Strike, TFC, DoD, and tons of other great mods so Half-Life 2 should have a great mod community without the need to buy expansion packs just to play online(though to get a thing like opposing force you will).

Penny-Arcade put it well with, "I can't wait till someone makes a game with it" as far as Doom 3 is concerned.

k, thanks lockhart. neway, me hopes that, by the looks of things, in the way that headcrabbing is done by the screenshot taht alpha put up, headcrabs don't gain the sudden ability of "headcrabbing" outside of scripted events (ie: your partner, your AI buddy, yourself), cause that would be pretty gay. The sudden mini thing becomes a huge meance. arg.

hmm, well gpig, the last that i heard was that Doom3 had a more of a Resident Evil theme to it, so it might have a good story behind it. either that or it will just make u crap in your pants when you see something charge out at you from the dark, theorotically clear abyss and bit ur head off really fast.

Here's the thing. If CZ is delayed again... what sense does it make to even release it? With HL2 coming out (supposedly) in September, why are they putting out a single player game based on an ancient engine? The big question for me is: will HL2 actually COME with CS2? If it doesn't, I'm probably not going to buy it. I'm probably not going to buy Doom 3 either. I just want to play CS2, hopefully it will be more like 1.3 and less like 1.5, but what I'm really wishing for is a revolutionary improvement upon the game while still retaining the level of fun CS has.

the graphics look a little bit too good to be true though. i'd really be surprised, with all that water uber special effects, the detail (a la bulet holes), and the AI won't hamper the lower class computers.

Well, it has been said that it will support 733mhz computers (still not me!), but it's recommended you have a 2ghz computer.

Well - if what is going around is TRUE --

70 fps - on a 1.7 Ghz with a Gf4 Ti?

Then I wont need to upgrade -- but I am upgradin this week actually - lol --

I hope that is true -- then many more people will be able to play HL2.

I'm just glad - I try and stay up to date with my CPU and seeing THIS confirms it. --- I can play HL2 without upgrading - but with a update I can make it look UBER pretty.
