HL was the first ever game i played that use hardware accelerated graphics. This, coupled with the fact that playing HL for the first time, made for me a truly memorable gaming experience.

Playing a single player game that u actually bought (not downlaoded) is much more fun i think.

This article wasnt that long but its not nearly as good as the other counter-point. Next time be funnier, and make fun of vanilla coke (it tastes like liquid ass).

Perhaps me coming to your house and cramming a printed version in your ear with the aid of a teaspoon? How'd that be for "quick and snappy", bitch?

very good summary - even though it is just a ramble :) i would like to add my own thoughts to this though:

Despite the fact that many people are screaming bloody murder for more freedom i think that more freedom in physics possibilities (i.e. the pipe blow up thing asspenis mentioned.) is where things should be headed - i know for a fact that "more free" maps/storylines/possibilities get me pissed and agravated as i go off to chose this one when realy i want to see what they all were. Also i get horribly messed up if the game is too free (the single player game) and eventualy quit. Example: morrowind. all i am compelled to do in that game (with its practicaly totaly free enviroment) is steal cheat kill and slaughter for no purpose whatsoever (ok fine so i shoudltn have bought the game lol) but with diablo 2 i was dead cool - considering the fact there were limits and a directed storyline and basis (i.e i cant kill shop owners and cant walk out of map scenes through more than two entrances/exits.)

personaly half life 2 sounds like a large step in gaming - once again though valve walks a tight rope. they have to make half life competent with current mod types - they have to make half life flexible and modable. not to mention they should also probably look for a classic type of gaming. to me my expectations of half life 2 are a better engine, less graphical limitations, better graphics and maybe a few new physics idead included (one thing for sure - the included ability to make attachments to guns would be greeted world wide by modders and gamers. i cant name one person who has objected to the ability to attach a laser sight or silencer to their gun before going into battle (especialy if the laser sighting works well and follows a good concept))

          ;p i shoulda posted earlyer

Half-life sucks, it's only it's mods that keep it alive.

So does that verify that half life sucks? the fact that its one of the more reliable, modable and easy to work with programs means it sucks? I sugest you edit your post.

                What, I can't have opinion?

The actual game is very boring. Every other 10 minutes of exploring there is a monster. The boss sucked. I'd rather play DooM.

The mods are fun, though. *cough* FIREARMS *cough*

That's fine. There's different opinions out there about various games, and who's to say one opinion is better than another? We don't all like Barbie Fashion Designer either, but there's a few people out there who do.

Of course, these also happen to be the same people who think that Half-Life sucked.

HL is only boring if u play on easy and cheat when you get to the boss. if you dont want to do anything but point at stupid enemy, click mouse, done, go ahead and play doom. if you want to play against intelligent enemies that work in teams, play HL

Speaking of different ideas for mods, given the average mentality of the age range, I'm surprised nobody's tried to make some sort of porno mod for HL yet.
i can see it now. the mawmen would be naked women who try to slap you with their tits. Gordon would carry around his 'Dildo of Power(!!!)' instead of crowbar. you can imagine the rest.

                        Model + Skin = Win.

                        Compile = Loose.

I have seen LOOM do WAY better compiles than this one. For one the model isn't smoothed at all. Also horrible texture alighnment. If it had a better compile it would be the best LR200 in CS/CZ now.

Shitty smoothing, awful compile, kills the best LR300 model actually skinned right now. It's a shame too.
