    Hot Poll Action

We have a delicious new poll for all of you democracy lovers out there. Which Half-Life treat do you think will come out first? Apparently we're supposed to believe that HL2 will be out at the end of September, but I don't think too many people are on that bandwagon quite yet. Maybe it'll be 1.6 or the developer-dancing CS:CZ?!?! The choice is yours.

Were the changes introduced in CS 1.4 (pause after jumping, removing speed walking) for the better, in your opinion?
    Yes.57%
    57%
    No.30%
    30%
    I started after CS 1.3, so I can't say.13%
    13%
    total votes: 2762

Judging from last week's poll (above), it seems that we've adapted to the changes from 1.4. I'm not too surprised at that considering how long it's been. Just remember this poll after 1.6 is released and everyone is flipping out and screaming for blood.

Speaking of blood, make sure you enter the crazy knife contest courtesy of Edgecentral.com (if you're over 18), and check out the latest Counter-Point where rizzuh and asspennies pretend people care about what they have to say.

I remember when people thought 1.6 would be released in December. After stopping visiting here a while ago, I figuered they would have released it by now, so guess not. I voted for Half Life 2 :)

The poll seems a little illogical...In order for CS:CZ to be release, CS 1.6 (or 1.7 as it may turn out) will have to be released for compatability. And since CS:CZ is based on the old HL1 engine, it will be released before HL2. That's how it seems to me at least. Am I wrong?

CS 1.6 isn't CZ, and who says just because it's using hl1 engine it has to be released before hl2? You would THINK that would happen, but there's no physics law that says it has to happen.

Why would they try to cram CS and Condition Zero in the same directory? It's most logical that Condition Zero will live in a /valve/ folder, CS will live in a /cstrike/ folder (without a models, sprites or sound folder so it'll use whatever CZ uses) meaning that CS 1.5 could ship with Condition Zero.

LOL, Before I read this I almost thought that rizzuh had a brain..

CZ will have patches that can easily be installed to cs retail/mod

and cz will have its one folder.

As much as I want (read: voted for) HL2 to be released, they've said numerous times that CS:CZ is going to be the first game released from steam. Don't you expect VALVe to put HL2 in as a big steam game as well. That would mean that CS:CZ is going to be before HL2. And isn't CS:CZ supposed to be the single-player equivalent to CS >= 1.7?

If all my assumptions are true, that would put it at CS 1.6 -> CS:CZ:CS 1.7 -> HL2.

If they make their Sept 30 deadline... Wow. What a great couple of months for VALVe. And then what about what rizzuh said regarding competing against their own products???

Hey dude I think it's safe to say that I know a lot more about you when it comes to Counter-Strike. Peace & respect.

First of all, you don't know the future but I can tell you that "CZ patches" are very unlikely unless by "CZ patches" you mean "CS 1.6 and 1.7." Secondly, no one knows if CZ will be in one folder so please do not act like it's factual. For this to occur, CZ and CS 1.6 would have to have the same client.dll's which I doubt will happen.

They've been working on HL2 since the release of HL because of that they have been able to make extremly good models, pshycics etc.

By the way they've said that 1.6 will be realesed in july and cz in may and that 1.6 will be released with condition zero, is the world nuts or is it only me.

Hey that's funny I run a very large Counter-Strike site and apparently you know the release date of 1.6 and I don't!

Stop talking, please. Reading Computer Gaming World doesn't make you an expert.
