a little something on TF2. The mapper of de_dust (im really sorry that i forgot ur name) used it as an influence for the textures and styles of de_dust. Which brings me to an actual point, TF2 better come out soon after HL2 since its been in development so freakin' long.

It was restarted from scratch on a new engine since those images that DaveJ used to get a feel for de_dust.
I should know since I apparently stole my name from him (davej was mapping 18 years ago) and I'm a davej wannabe even though I don't map or anything. Yarr.
By the way DaveJ better be doing some level design for CS2.Comment

Wow.

I picked up my new Issue of PCGAMER today and found a neat little behind the scenes booklet about HL2.
mmm mmm good
..
and also -- on a side note for tonight - I dont really know if anyone here plays Diablo 2 .. but it's being updated to 1.10 VERY SOON.
:-) == which made me excited as well -- but HL2 pushed me over the edge.Comment

I feel sorry for all thr guys at Valve who have worked on HL2.
I mean, they'll never be able to see and enjoy the game as we see and play it. They've spent many months and years working on it... they know it inside out. We'll play it all the way through and it'll all be fresh... it's a different experience, believe me.
But yet again I am a little bit excited about this little game. I'd also like to point out that as the greatest understatement I've ever made in my life.Comment

HL2 visuals are damn nice, but you can't compare doom3 with this. Half-Life2 engine has been worked on not to use the 'more polys = more betterness' strategy, therefore they can make it so that your PC doesn't need to be a daemon to run it. Of course, to make it look like it should, that R350 would come in handy :)
