Will there actually be a CS2? Cause if it will, its a really bad idea! i want Half-life 2 but I will probably stick to CS 1 even if 2 comes out. I have gotten used to the old graphic and maps

Yes, there will be CS2, and we've known that gooseman has been working on it for quite some time. And finally, yes, I'm sure there'll still be plenty of normal CS servers when it comes out, though less and less over time, I would imagine. There's no reason why you can't play both, however.

I'll play CS until CAL gets rid of it. That is when I will take up my arms with CS2. I wonder if the shooting and style of CS2 will be "12-year old impatience friendlly" I hope for godsake they keep shooting and recoil and everything else to that effect the same. I will hate CS2 if they make it so little jimmy can pick it up and be Jesus at it in 3 games.

I think thats where CS:CZ comes in, because its supposed to sharpen up your CS skills, or at least thats what I read in an article in Gamespot.

Ahaha, that guy is so full of shit. He has all his facts wrong. Like he calls the models the players are holding w_ models when those are actually p_ models. The examples and citations are absurd. People like that shouldn't be allowed to write.
Its only a p_ model if you are holding it. other players holding it are w_ models, so he was correct.

              you dumbass

v = view, what you see

w = world, whats on the ground

p = player, what you see other people holding

so shut the fuck up unless you know what you're talking about

Too bad that article that was critising Hl2, did it on a *beta*.

I'm sure as hell they will fix the problems mentioned there, and others we don't know about for the final release.

I saw all the videos. This game looks amazing. How were they able to keep it under wraps for so long? Talk about making ID software look bad. Doom 3 has been hyped for the last 2 years with screenshots and it looks no where as good as HL 2 and it still haven't come out yet.

I'm going to have to say that I believe the video on Fileplanet was done with reduced detail levels.

First off, you get the little flying things, and there's absolutely no shadows coming from them, or from the characters. Look around, and you'll notice there's no shadows for the lamp posts, tree, power lines, etc... pretty much anything that could move. Only the fixed objects (like the power poles and massive statues) seem to have shadows.

Yet in other screenshots we've seen, there's very definitely dynamic character shadows. You even see dynamic shadows from the barrel and the headcrab zombie guy in the earlier scene, so we know the engine can do it. Also after the video fades out and comes back still in the plaza scene, there's player shadows for the soldiers, and you faintly see a shadow for one of the flying cameras. Still no shadows from power lines or the tree and such, though. Odd.

Same type of thing with the particle effects for the water and such which are oddly missing from this movie's hydra scene, though present in others.

It makes me wonder if they didn't perhaps release the video with lower detail levels so we'd still be awed by the time we saw the actual game and/or not get disappointed when our system wasn't powerful enough to create those extra visuals. Dynamic shadows tend to be very heavily CPU dependent (as opposed to video), though, and I think it's safe to say that many people have better CPU's than video cards in your average store-bought PC.

One hopes that's why, anyway. It's all speculation in the end.

The videos ive seen look pretty amazing. im worried that my computer wont be able to cope to well with it, ive got a amd 1700 with 64mb graphics, but sometimes you can see the frame rate of the computer used at the show drop, and thats bound to be a very fast computer theyre using. so thats my only concern

Its awesome and fun, but I'm giving it a 9 because it is somehow over 5000 polies.

I'd also like to point out that it isn't mirrored correctly for CS 1.6/CZ. Easy to fix with gflip though.

Not only that, but it's missing a muzzle flash. STILL FUN AS HELL!

Great idea, nicely made, but the poly count is stupid given that this is a gimmick model, and the novelty value wears off once you've seen all the animations. Like I said, really nicely done, but to be honest if you just look at it in HLMV and flick through the animations then you get the gist of it and there's not much else to do with it bar that, so only actually use it in-game if you don't have HLMV to be perfectly honest.

How does a gimmick model get a 10? Seriously...I know the anims are great and all but it is a gimmick model.
