21 more minutes til the video starts downloading. I hate FilePlanet with a lot of hate and stuff.

I myself prefer to see stuff about upcoming games that I'm excited about, because then I'll want to buy it more.

for anyone whos watched the videos. Can anyone explain the colour shifting that seems to be happening
It's the cam. If you get the direct feed video you don't see that.

Ahaha, that guy is so full of shit. He has all his facts wrong. Like he calls the models the players are holding w_ models when those are actually p_ models. The examples and citations are absurd. People like that shouldn't be allowed to write.

He did have some valid points in that article, I thought, but yes, some of it seemed exaggerated and irrelevant. When I saw that initial picture of HL2 (the prison one), I also noticed the horribly blocky lightmap lighting. One can only hope that won't be the final method used. Regardless, many of the more important advances in the Source engine were just completely ignored, making it not seem like an objective article, but rather as a "let's start some controversy" piece.

Way to run a site that can't seem to implement SQL queries in any sort of stable fashion. The pictures come up sometimes, but more often I was just getting a myriad of CFM debug crap.

Well when you write the graphics engine to work with a low end machine (i.e. 500mhz with a tnt2 graphics card) you tend to have a few little things happen like what is side in the actical.

BTW: you havent already and want to laern more about HL2 read the pcgamer actical on it. It was a good read.

I'd like to say DaveJ has a life but I'd be lying.

I can't wait for any Half-Life news that comes my way. Things are way too exciting these days!

We are not a Half-Life 2 fansite and thus cannot cover every movie and piece of media concerning it (which is to say that we won't cover the vast majority of HL2 stuff from now on).
Kind of an interesting point with that. We're a CS fansite at the moment, and CS is running on the Half-Life engine. We're going to be a CS2 fansite as well when that comes out, and that'll be running on the Source (Half-Life 2) engine.

So in other words, while things like the storyline and artwork of Half-Life 2 don't really pertain to this site, things like advancements in the engine itself and modability aspects do tie in very heavily to what we're focusing on.

Movie was nice, but even though it is a preview, they made a really sloppy work. For example, the scene when the tentacles grab the guy and smashes him to the ground, you should have seen water splashing. This is the sort of details you cannot afford to miss these days.

If you watch the shaky-cam movie (#5 on Gamespot,) rather than the direct-feed teaser, you can see that the splash effects (and ripples) are included in that version (same scene.) I guess that the teaser version is either taken from an earlier engine build, or they turned off the particle effects for some reason.
