C-D Blocks Interp

[CSN NewsBot]

A new version of Cheating-Death has been released. While most updates of C-D are fairly boring, this version (2.12.1) actually adds a new and likely controversial block. Values of ex_interp above .1 and smaller than .05 will now be blocked, adding fuel to the "anti-config hacking" fire that has been taking place in the Counter-Strike world.



Because of the controversy around ex_interp and other config 'hax,' CAL and other leagues have thrown their weight behind WWCL, a light-weight config checker which can be downloaded on the CAL website. The series of ex_ variables has created a lot of controversy in the esports community, prompting VALVe to respond that most, if not all, ex_ variables will be locked by CS 1.6.



Likely the first traditional anti-cheat to block ex_interp, this version of Cheating-Death also fixes some some "false code[41]" detections and adds more robust cheat detection methods. VALVe anti-cheat (VAC) must be disabled for C-D to run on the server.

Gasp, will this be the unf that CD needs in order to get into being mandatory in CAL matches? Will more configurations like this be implemented into CD making it even more useful? Was that last question REALLY neccessary?!?!

I'm a bit confused about this interp business. Surely if interp is set lower than 0.1, it is a lot more accurate of where a player "really is", as opposed to where your screen shows him to be. So how can this be "interp hacking" if it's showing a more true picture of the server at a given time? It's like saying that taking the cover off your keyboard is hacking, cos you will be able to press the keys more accurately :/

Hey Im anti-cheat but im against anything that blocks your configs. early versions of WWCL blcoked all my ping scripts. Example Mp_decals 60 Mp_decals is blocked at 300. (oh so Im forced to lag if 56k?) Rate 9999 Rate is blocked at 3500. I know the newer versions fix this but still blocking scripts is fascism man im anti-aimbot and wallhack, but blocking scripts is gay...

It's not fascism, it's just an attempt to make sure everone's starting with the same initial conditions. If you, like many, aren't so hardcore that you play in league play or on servers with league settings, don't worry about it.



Otherwise, you're going to have to come to the realization that, in the Counter-Strike league play world where the playing field is slowly being leveled across every aspect of the game, your 56k modem is a bit out of synch with the rest of the players.

everyone has different computers, thats why wwcl is so gay. it's not leveling anything, it's just giving people advantages over other people.
