CSCentral MapPack #2

[CSN NewsBot]

CSCentral has released its second custom mappack. The pack includes the release of six exclusive maps from prominent mappers in the community. Included are maps such as cs_greenhouse by 3DMike (de_survivor), de_laguna by Illa (de_volare), and de_downton by Dr.DK (de_battle_island). All six maps are very high quality and went through strenuous playtesting and tweaking to get the right feel.



Take a break from your 24/7 de_dust server and try these maps out. CSC is also running the pack on two servers in the US and one in the UK, or if that's not your thing, they've included PODBot waypoints for those of you who would rather not associate with other people. Try this pack out, who knows, you might actually like it. And yes, I'm on a roll today.

Time to download this pack I guess. If the screenshots are any indication of quality, they at least have some good visuals going on. Hopefully gameplay will stand up to the test. I'd been wondering about cs_greenhouse lately, so I guess that question is answered now.



Just out of curiousity... how many of you play on custom map servers very often? When I was relatively new to the CS scene, I played all sorts of custom maps (of course, I let them download in-game, heh), but now I find myself mostly playing on a few servers that just run a very limited set of maps. I guess it's that "comfortable territory" thing you get into when you're no longer exploring so much.



Anyway, should be fun to try out some custom maps and get some of that joy of exploration and new stuff back. Like, in a good way, not in a de_airstrip way. :)

Unfortunately unless im admining a server I rarely get to play custms , and since my server is gone as of a week ago, I am nolonger admining, If anyone has the ip of a friendly open custom map playing server in UK, preferrablky not just small aim n fy maps, IM partial to aim aztec n ak colt, but not marathon sessions of hor after hour.. THats just boring.

One of the server's I play on has semi regular custom map tests on weekends. Usually five maps, played twice each so people can try T and CT. If the map plays well in the test, it gets added to the regular rotation.



Anyway, been waiting for this pack for a while and the wait appears to be worth it.

Yeah.. I play on custom map servers sometimes :P Other times its just ... Ragular stock maps :)

I play on a select set of servers.



Many people on it, I know personally and I know what their level of skill is like. That and I don't know who the "regluars" are on new servers which sucks.



Custom map servers are alright, though I prefer an occasonally scoop of default.

I always download and play custom maps. I guess it's because I like exploring, and it brings me back to the days when I tried to drive the truck around and assault, and thought that dust was the best map ever.

there hve been like 3 diff. versions of cs_shogun.....mmm...can cause confusion.

What can I do if my textures don't load properly? While cs_greenhouse is loading about half of the textures work and the other half can't be loaded or something. Because of this instead of trees I mainly see big blue boxes and I'd like to change that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
