Half-life 2 is going to be so cool. Usually I just borrow games from someone else and play it a bit. This game DESERVES my money.

        RQuinn:

I remember reading in a preview (probably gamespys) that in order to create consistancy between different levels of hl2, they were creating "warehouses" of things like chairs, desks etc that differant mappers could use. They also said that they would make these 'warehouses' available to the community.

Will the new Hammer editor still support all those wonderful prefabs that were so important to HL1 map making?

RQuinn, look what it is you've done.

Brace yourself for a three page article stating simply how you suck.

i dont think ill live with the better graphics, ive been living with these counter strike graphics (and high poly models) and i dont think ill adapt to HL2. plus the one black scientist (not racist) looks reminds me of the guy who played god in bruce almighty..

Newell wants a Networked Fighting Game?!? Dude, how about someone implements BF1942 on the HL2 engine. Now that would be worthwhile. I want to see people's facial expressions change from stupid to stupified as I approach with the B17 bomber... and 64 players for more deathmatching action.

              -stooop
yea really, in bf1942 you fall from 5 feet and you die...

but yeah, I think a bad ass arena fighter would be fun as all hell, esp if you could have dedicated servers. Imagine having one map that is nothing but one 20 player bar brawl, breaking bottles, chairs, tables over peoples backs, crap like that.

              sounds like fun to me.
no man, better idea, be in a giant stadium with anything you can drive or ride like cars, robots, shopping cart, elmo.. well just saying a all out brawl with things you run over hobos with..

Sadly tho kiddies, we been imagining ideas about half life 2 for so long.. that its not going to be what we will expect out of the game.. so just stop dreaming and get some porn. yet the game does look nice..

I think VALVe has prepared for a large outcome of buyers. After all HL:2 was a very huge matter at E3. The demand probably won't be met, but I know it won't be so large as to sell on eBay for hundreds!

I do agree with you guys that think Half-Life 2 will sell millions before some stores even get shipments of the game, BUT- In other interviews I've seen (sorry I can't site them, it wasn't recently), members of the production staff have made it clear that they fully understand how many sales there could be.

Remember, this is a computer game, not a console like Playstation 2, which was tragically underproduced to the point that only people who camped in their cars outside kmart with chips and old hair metal band cd's could buy the product before it sold out. For Sony, the problem was that they didn't have enough of some part of the PS2 (I think). I really doubt any of the components of Half-Life 2 in-box are so technologically advanced that it will be hard for them to produce enough. Let's see....CD, CD case, instruction booklet, registration card....and maybe a coupon for other games they've made or endorse.

All I'm saying is...don't worry. You'll almost definitely get your copy quickly.

Plus if all the stores are sold out you could always buy it on Steam.

I wonder if they'll let you get it a day early if you buy it off Steam or some other thing to get you to buy it off of Steam instead of a store?

HL:2 will be available thru Steam?

I didn't think they would release such a huge game via Steam, can anyone clear this up?

yep, its been confirmed through various interviews that HL2 will be on steam. I'll buy the box though, unless its financially beneficial to get it through steam.

The question I'd like answered is :

The Mods that are made for half-life 2, will thay also work with games like CS2 & TF2. If this was the case, it would increase the mod community.

Saying that I don't think there will be many people with out a copy of half-life 2
