    fpsstats Stats Program

Mlavwilson has sent us information about his new stats program, fpsstats. There is a viewable demo showing how the program works and the layout of the information being provided. This exclusive program has Player Stats, Weapon Stats, Map Stats, and last, but not least, Game Stats. It also has other neat little features.

not much of a demo with hardly any stats.

I find it a bit lame. Psycho and Hlstats are much more pleasing to the eye and easy to understand and read. This to me just seems like a bunch of garbled mess.

fpsstats is still in beta, but it has one feature that all the compition lacks! Thats filters. In Psycho and Hlstats, as good as they ar, you can not apply filters.

In fpsstats you can add a filter that will filter the data and only show you the stats for a given set of users. Or a given set of weapons. You can say remove the AWP, and then see how you match up to everyone.

Filters, thats what sets this apart.

The data is from a few lan games. So yes, it is less than you will see in most stats applications. I don't have that much time to generate stats

              It feels kind of unorganized...

Perhaps a few touchups and it would be great.

Lots of potential, filters will make it useful. Ill be interested when this is a bit more touched up.

as long as i can turn it off, and have it stay off, it's good.

i couldn't figure out how to see any stats! i clicked the tabs but every screen was blank except for the headers. seems like you need a bit more work before you publicize

When you first hit the site you are promped to apply a filter. If you create a filter that limits all the data then (for example you select a start date greater than today), yes you will have an empty stats application.

Click on the filters link on the top right and uncheck all filters and click Apply.

If there is no beta for us to test, I am trying to see why it is posted here... must have a friend admining here... But I have tweaked my stats... lol... take a look !

Send it to me, if it runs off standard logs I can really see if it works... if not capable of handling 31 days of stats I dont need it...

Right now it has 60 days of stats in it, but only a few hours a day I have a beta release out on sourceforge:

                          fps-1.0-beta-3

I would love to hear from you. I am looking for constructive critics.

The filters seem cool, but not sure how I would use it. HLstats is a great tool, with low cpu utilization. And teh display for HLStats is wonderfull. by person, by weapon by clan etc. Sure reomving the awp from stats would be nice in limited situations. But I bet that that feature (filters) could be implemetned better by hacking HL stats. Why not use there engine and tweak it.

» Good advice, but I am a software architect. Stating that, when I look at the architecture of hlstats, it makes me cringe! I would not want to touch that code.

» It would not be a simple task the way hlstats is designed...

» fpsstats is a framweork to display stats for first person shooters. HLStats is to tied to half-life fpstats with very little effert (one java adapter) can support any first person shooter.

» I love the java language. Perl and PHP, not as satisfying. Its tough to code a system in php and Perl and get a good system under the hood. But that debate belongs elsewhere.

» The only filter I use every day is the date filter. So we can compare how we all match up for TODAY.
