Match of the Night: zEx vs. aoX

Interesting teams, interesting map, interesting circumstance, and all together it means one hell of a match. zEx got hammered last week by GX on cpl_fire. Many people believe it is because zEx couldn't have cared less about the map, but now is time to step it up. This is the last week in the season and this match will put the Omega Division title on the line. Both aoX and zEx are very strong teams but I don't think zEx will make two drastic mistakes in two consecutive weeks.

    zEx > aoX 15-9

Result: #3 zEx over #8 aoX - (18-6) (9-3 zEx as T)(9-3 zEx as CT)[break]The rest of tonight's schedule is...

    - GX vs Rival -

Rival has been playing very strong, but I think after coming off a big win to zEx, GX is going to be well prepared for tonight's match.

    GX > Rival 14-10

    - 3D vs e7 -

e7 has always been a thorn in the side of 3D, and they've tied them in the past. This is a map that demands excellent teamwork and strats, which I think 3D can use to their advantage tonight.

    3D > e7 15-9

    - TEC vs TSG -

TEC is a very strong team, and TSG just dosen't have what it takes to beat TEC.

    TEC > TSG 16-8

    - xeno vs GB -

xeno and GB are both very impressive teams, and I expect a very close match in GB's favor.

    GB > xeno 13-11

    - iwa vs MurK -

The mighty Iceland-er-ish warriors strike again. Though their pings will be a little high, I believe they can pull this one over iwa.

    MurK > iwa 14-10

    - shock vs Cc -

shock has been practicing like clockwork, and I believe they will take command.

    shock > Cc 15-9

    - c[h]ikara vs BiO -

c[h]ikara has always been seen as a joke in CAL-invite. They are a decent team, but BiO has the experience and the skill to win this one easily.

    BiO > c[h]ikara 18-6

    - Pinnacle vs d0f -

d0f has been a little rough lately, and Pinnacle has been inconsistent in their playing this season.

    Pinnacle > d0f 19 - 5

    - hs vs TU -

TU and hs should make a close match.

    hs > TU 13 - 11

    - ExS vs TAU -

ExS has beaten TAU before, and I think tonight will be a repeat.

    ExS > TAU 15 - 9

    - LgD vs gsx.tx -

gsx.tx only has two people on their roster. As far as I know, this is a forfeit.

    LgD > gsx.tx 13-0

    - WEW vs Ownij -

WEW has always been a good team, but I think they aren't ready for this match, and Ownij has been performing really well.

    Ownij > WEW 13-11

    - SYB vs frag -

SYB should beat frag on this one, but it went into overtime last time these two matched up.

    SYB > frag 14-10

    - nerve vs TSO -

TSO is just terrible with only two wins this season, one of them being a forfeit. nerve should win this easy.

    nerve > TSO 15-9

I hope that 3D over e7 prediction is correct, 3D has had cbble trouble in the past.

Wish chikara would shape up, it'd be awesome to see them in the upper-tire of cal-i sometime.

3D had trouble with European teams on cobble. I think they can pull ahead of e7 in this one.

3D must be bored of CS as am i. CS 1.6 would spark my interest again though. I haven't played for at least a day!

Someone on Gotfrag said, cobble is all about locking down sites. 3D does this very well, and e7 is good but I don't think 3D is going to lose this one.

MikeJ, CS 1.6 will probably come out and the end of this CAL season, and will most likely be adapted into league play after this CPL. I don't think the CPL would switch to it, for all the clans have strats and are used to 1.5 style of play. I may be wrong though, it's just my opinion.

Surely a good team can evolve and move with the times, To hold back 1.6 from 'progaming' would be like preventing footballers from having the passback rule implemented while the rest of the world had to obey. (No handling by goalie after a pass back from teammate implemented a few years back). The actuality of events mean, that ´casual amateur' (or pub) footy (cs) still relapses to the old rules, and may allow passbacks, (1.5, even 1.3 servers do exist) but the progamers are at the forefront of new rules in order to compel the 'fan'.

On the other hand I see that its not just new rules (DEAD or lack of) but new weapons, (erm, stretching the analogy, but perhaps a freekicklauncher or shield like gloves for goalie??? ;| ) So I would then try to claim that in the real world terrorist and cts have to adapt to changing technlogy and equipment and QED their gaming counterparts should have to as well. I dont know, at the end of the day, CS 1.6 is better imho so bring it on.

u guys talk about eauropean vs usa games. but what about ping differences? its about 100ms from east coast across the atlantic, and vice versa.

wouldnt 1 team have an unfair advantage, ping-wise.

Whenever euro and USA is put up agaisnt each other, It's meant in a LAN setting such as CPL. The only case when a US team plays a Euro team on the internet is when MurK is playing because they are from Iceland.

Yes, I can see it all now, American vs. Euro, played on servers based on an old oil freighter in the middle of the Atlantic! We'll branch out to s server center on Midway Island and in the artic, thus enableing online play between American and Asian and Canadian and Russian as well! I'll make millions!! WUHAHAHAHA!!!
