Tech, cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate are netcode variables meant to be changed due to connection and what not. There is no reason to have low rate variables with a fast connection. Sometimes if you are lanning you and your buds will have to lower the rates to reduce choke. r_drawviewmodel is forbidden in CAL because it is not a variable that should be changed for optimal performance within reason. The rate commands are how often you get updates from a server so people with slow connections can't have high rates and people with fast connections shouldn't use low rates, therefore rates should be able to be kept changed. CAL has been letting a lot slide lately but I think they will start to enforce rules more because they have been under heavy criticism.

Most of you do realize, this thread would not exist if shock didn't win.

I'm sure if TEC won, Jaden wouldn't be questioned about his demo. The point is, it was an exploit, but it wasn't something drastic to really improve shock's chances of winning. Even if kSpro (pronounced K-S-Pro, for those who don't know.) had a gun model, the results would've been the same. Shock should get the win and kSpro should be suspended for a few games. The whole team shouldn't lose for such a small exploit.

Now, some of you are going to say, "Yeah, but if a CAL-Open team does it they get a forfeit. How come CAL-Invite gets away with it?"

Most CAL-Open teams break up within 3-4 weeks, and almost all of them go nowhere. A single win on their record won't mean anything really, but to a CAL-Invite team, that win could mean everything.

Think about this, CAL-Invite has about thirty teams. CAL-Open has countless amounts of teams, and whenever a team loses they cry and scream "HACKS!" CAL-Admins probably get this situation for 7\10 CAL-Open matches.

The point is some of you will say I'm unfair for thinking the Invite players should be treated with different rules, but there is a big difference between the importance of a CAL-Open match and a CAL-Invite match.

orion, if kS didnt get all those kills with his "exploit" shock wouldnt have won.

He didn't use the "see over boxes" exploit, he used cl_bob 0 and r_drawviewmodel 0. These two commands do not make your aim any greater or your vision thru walls any better. An exploit is an exploit, but I don't think it made much of a difference. Shock should get the win and kSpro should be suspended for X amount of games.

r_drawviewmodel 0 makes it so you don't have the gun model in front of you to distract you. It DOES help and rules are rules. I actually used to use it but switched because I didn't like the fact that I couldn't always remind myself which gun I had by looking on the bottom of the screen :X.

I'm not defending him, but you're saying had he used the gun models in first person, his aim would've been terrible and he wouldb't have had any effect on the match?

That's like saying I downloaded a custom m4 skin with a really leet gnarly reload animation, so my aim is a lot better. Granted you can see more area on your screen, it shouldn't affect your aim and how many kills you will get.

If you say its a pyschological thing, go join the army and shoot something, come back into CS and say, "I shot something in real life, I'm leet now."

I never said it would be a huge difference. Even if it barely made any difference the score was 13-11 and kspro literally had around 50% of shocks kills.

I personally think if they get a loss, shock will break up. They lost a player who config hacked, if another is added to the list, I think they will call it quits.

And are you smokie from shock or just have the same name?

it was for me like that before actual scrims.. i had a specific awp model that i was really good with, when i first tried switching back it was really nasty, i couldn't hit shit with the regular awp model. i'd say its pretty psychological.

your last paragraph makes absolutely no sense, what does that have to do with proving that having different models improves your aim? besides that though, think about it. suppose you had two guns: one that looked like it could take off someones face and one that looked like a potato shooter. They both did the same amount of damage, and had the EXACT same recoil, the only difference being that one looked dominating the other wimpy. Would you or would you not you feel safer when trying to kill someone with the "dominating" one, which would allow your mind to be at ease and therefore have more focus on your target?

could it be kspro is just used to playing without the weapon models? like from a long time ago? in that case its going to be a real conflict of interests from the judges and kspro.
