The new knife would be better if it looked like a knife someone would use in combat. It's better than the old backward hold, but a little too "stylish". It does make knife fights a little more interesting.



I get you Bushwacker, but alas I am bestowed with my lowley SB Live and $30 speakers. I have been accused of hacking a couple times when shooting people running around corners. I want to get the Logitech 680Z set.

I prefer blade down, and I prefer knifes not to be painted. I liked the old knife better. It good that you can replace the models!

And how come Sound card only got 17% last poll? Thats like, not good

To be fair, now I've gotton more used to the new knife, it's better then the old one... but not quite as good as my blood-stained knife :) (still waiting for that meat cleaver though)

sigh... your Video card is SOLELY dependant on your processor, so if your processor isn't powerful enough to run processes your video card will be sluggish. SIGH PPL ARE STUPID.

It will take you two weeks to be as good as you were. And two weeks after that you would be able to make your old self yell OMG H4X constantly. Seriously, using a mouse is way slower and less accurate.

It is not thumb-operated, but finger-operated. What that means is, the actual motion you use to move it is extremely similar to what you do now to move your mouse. It's just that once you get used to the new device you'll be a LOT quicker and a lot more accurate. I myself switched to MS's first trackball, the Intellimouse Trackball, back when Unreal first came out. I got used to it while playing through the single player game. Sucked at first, but quickly got more and more used to it. By the time I finished the game I was pretty nasty with the railgun in quake2, hehe. That one had rollers like most mice did back then. Once optical mice were everywhere I was itching for someone to make a good optical trackball. Thankfully MS made the most insane one with their Trackball Explorer, it bloody rocks.

yes! eax is more or less static (as in, unchanging) echo patterns which you can switch between, like when you move into a different room you get a different echo pattern. A3D actually uses the map's geometry to calculate the sound, just too bad Aureal went under. And ever since voice-comm was added to Half-Life I had nothing but trouble with my Aureal card in that game. They broke something to do with A3D. I wish I had it again. Being able to hear that someone is 270 degrees to your rear and 10 feet above you, and you know it just from how it sounds, is just too awesome. Man I miss that.

You've got it all wrong, the knife is okay, but its the way its held. The guy looks like hes trying to hug someone with it.

(the following paragraph is not well researched and comes from the bits and pieces of my knowlege) Combat Knives are not usually held downwards. Daggers are, and they are used by lifting the dagger up and stabbing downwards with the point of blade. When combat knives are used, they are usually used to slice or "poke holes" into the victim. They are usually held with the blade up for an easier time doing so.



And plus, the 3rd person player models hold the knives with the blade up, even before the change made by Valve.

erm which silly buggers voted for gfx card in this poll, the voodoo 3 on my p3 733 rig gets above 60fps constantly and is usually hitting the 99fps mark, the only way you can get the fps to drop is with smoke nades, or by using custom weapon p and w models, i just use custom v models



as for the new knife, do any of the CT forces actually use it, the old knife is used by seals, altho i think am gunna stick with my m9 bayonet model

I think you should have added "upgrade internet speed," because I feel that's the largest advantage you can have.

Sound card schmound card. I could tell people's locations with my crappy old 700 mhz pc with onboard sound and a set of $20 headphones. And now that I have a decent sound card, it doesn't help me ascertain people's locations by sound any better than that setup used to. If anything, EAX echoes bug the living crap out of me.



You can tell a difference in your overall enjoyment of the game with a nice sound card, but I wouldn't claim it makes you a better player.

The theme was hardware. Of course the biggest advantage is internet speed, but that's not a piece of hardware that is a service.
