Half-Life 2 RC Shipped to VU

Update: The HL2 Fallout forums seem to be undergoing heavy traffic, and will be intermittently down. You can still see the quote below as posted by Gabe Newell on their boards.

A posting by Gabe Newell on the Half-Life 2 Fallout forums, states that the Half-Life 2 release candidate (RC) was shipped to Vivendi Universal (VU) yesterday.
Yes, the RC went to VU yesterday.
Don't believe me? Go ahead and check out the original forums' posting to see for yourself. This is certainly good news for those awaiting the release of Half-Life 2. The shipping of the RC to VU is one of the final stages before the game releases to the public.

CZ took a couple months, but that's because there wasnt a whole lot of pressure to release it quickly. There are thousands of gamers waiting and upgrading specificly to play HL2. I would say that higher demand would yeild quicker supply. [badjoke]September 30th anyone????[/badjoke]

With all the testing of the engine that the CS: Source BETA testers have put forth, there should be very few major bugs left. Now, as to if there are still major bugs in the HL2 component not just including the engine, that remains to be seen.

If all goes well there should be a quick turn around time, then a few weeks for mass production until shipment. Soooo.... late Sept, maybe early October? Still pretty good.
