    PAF Hostitron Released

Server admins can now spice up the CS experience with the new Hostitron plugin system from Punk Ass Fraggers. The Hostitron is a server-side plugin for Adminmod and AMXmod that works on both Windows and Linux. The Hostitron comes with 17 different hostage models which will change and rotate the hostage models on every hostage rescue map on map change.

Something fun to spice up your game, perhaps? Get more info on the Hostitron here.

The models are included in a separate Client Model Pack to avoid the downloads, as detailed on the site. I had originally posted all that info in the newspost, but decided it made the newspost too long and it wasn't that hard for the reader to visit the site and find out more information on it anyway.

More and more servers are turning off file downloads, so I don't know how this will work out.

                  If I'm getting this straight...

When you connect to a server running this, it will activate on your machine, assuming that you've downloaded the client-side model pack. If you haven't, you'll just see normal hostages.

If you install this and connect to a server not running this mod, you'll still see your normal hostages.

Sounds like a damn cool plugin to me, to be honest. Doesn't change anything for those who don't want it, but allows more variety for those who want it, and doesn't mess up your CS overall. Nicely done, PAF.

My only question... can you replace the models that this cycles through with your own versions? For instance, if you realize that your girl watching you play CS will turn sour if barely clothed women are running around, can you get rid of these models and/or replace them with something else?

On the server-side of things, can you bind specific hostages to specific maps? It'd be cool to have Walmart employees everytime you play cs_walmart, and similarly themed hossies for other maps...

It'd also perhaps be cool to see a player-replacement version of this, where you could get desert camo clad players on maps like dust, and more urban skinned players for those maps... you get the idea.

yikes... if your girlfriend is getting pissed off because she's watching you rescue crappy blocky looking scantily clad women in a frickin computer game, maybe you need a new girlfriend.

Ah sens eand reason, I agre that this is a good idea, and dammit NIghthawk u beat me to the punch on a similar plugin to allow a change in player models too.

However I dont know how excited to get over plugins which I hope to become completey outdated by xmas this year (If cs2 can be done by then... Otherwise Ill probably be playting hl2 anywyas.)

                      Oh and folks,

Did I already tell u Vietcong is wicked?

I think it's more the idea of the matter than how high-quality the models themselves are. For instance, Duke Nukem characters are blocky as hell even with a higher res, but that doesn't mean that running up to the strippers and throwing cash would be a smart idea. Anyway, as it is, "virtual killing" puts things on the edge for a lot of girls, so I don't see much need to push it. It'd seem rather stupid and superficial to ditch someone you love simply because they don't want you looking at other women, even if it's more imagination than real.

The only other thing I was reminded of was the CSR audio clip... I forget exactly what for anymore, but it was a parody of "Everyone's Free (to wear sunscreen)" that one of those crazy brits did. Anyway, it had a line in there encouraging using nude hostage models, because they made the game more interesting and encouraged completing the objectives. :) I found it amusing, anyway.

Uh, nobody's thought that when you press Use on the hostage, and it looks like a woman, the voices will stay the same and it'll sound like a man?
