That was a fucking crap article. Grammar wasnt checked, typos, poor layout, un-interesting content, and generally poorly written, take the link to it DOWN!

Wow someone who actually read the article.
This was a terrible article. Not only was he insensitive to someone who had died at a very young age and gave a lot to the community, but he also bashed the awp for a few million pages. He kept adding his opinion to his article as if he was there to expierience any of this or as if we cared how his incompitence led him to take 20 minutes to rescue hostages. Honestly I hope he is removed from the csc team so he dosen't mistakenly act like he knows what he's talking about again. "Hi my name is Adam and I started playing 20 minutes ago during 1.3. I hate the awp so I'm going to talk about how much I hate it because awp is nub and I might mention a game version I have never played and know absolutley nothing about except what I stole from csn and asked my best friend's grandma about. Did I mention the awp is gay & it's a nub weapon cuz im a scout masta! I go by the name [M4TRIX]- A |) A (v) - (Om3g4 D1v1z1on) ***GENERAL*** 1337 c=I==>"
This guy should suck on a chloriene tablet...

Agreed. That would be like me writing about the 70s even though I never lived in the 70s and stating my opinion about the life style in the 70s.
Wow someone who actually read the article.

But like I said, that article sure killed time.Comment

CS 1.6 - [6.13.2056]
Now this release was very exciting, first off there was the galil which cost less than a packet of gum and was used to stretch an even greater advantage over the CTs for affordable fire power.
Also came the shield, which while promising great things was actually of little use other than prolonging the amount of time it took that T with the cheap rifle to cap your ass.
Oh, how can we forget the new improved scoredboard! You can creep around for hours on end believing that it could be You -vs- Everyone, when in fact the only man left is afk at spawn!
Marvellous!
Edit: Saying that, the Famas isn't bad, but then again, seeing as it isn't the most realistic of games anyway, they should've given the CTs a bit of an advantage by giving it 35 bullets, and the Galil only 25. the famas does cost more after all......Comment

spoon thats some funny hsit, and so true... I still like 1.6 though... hmmm wonder why... maybe cos hteres less freaks n it feels exclusive at the mo... I dunno. Have to say though, I started in 1,5 n will be here to cs 2 and beyond so it doesnt matter how long youve been playing, its the attitude.Comment

When I had the opprotunity to shoot at a shooting range, I fired a Colt with no supressor. Being a CS player I asked the man moderating all of this, if the supressor increased the recoil. He said something similar to, "Yes it does, but not so drastically to make you lose control of your aim."
LOL
He obviously doesn't know how a silencer works, its otherwise known as a supressor, it slows the bullet down, adding a bit more 'randomness' to its trajectory.
Otherwise good article.
My point is, the guy writing this article should at least have 2-3 other people read it first before he posts it.
I can't judge though, cause I'd probably make the same mistakes.Comment

Nice article about the beta's. I'm not sure which beta it was, but I remember playing on my old dial-up and thinking siege was the whip. When Colt's had scopes......when FB's had shrapnel. And if you're a fan of wall kills, you would always know if you're walling somebody by the nifty little "You hit a kevlar vest"
However, nice progression in between beta's to make it what it is today.

1.3 was released in sept. of 2001 that's over a year and a half ago, give it 3 and a half months and it will be a full 2 years, that's a bit longer than 20 minutes. I know you were trying to say anything 1.1 or before he shouldn't be talking about, but 1.3 was released a long time ago. You could have started playing in 1.3 and by now easily be the best damn cs player on the planet. But I do agree, that article was complete crap because he did not know what he was talking about.

I read about 4-5 paragraphs into the article before I realized it was crap. If there's one thing I know from taking journalism, it's to not write opinion articles which you have done no research on and you weren't there to experience.
Also, everyone who hates the AWP just sucks with it plus they only pub all the time there I said it wanna fight about it?Comment

Nice brief roundup... I have a particular fondness of BETA 3 (my first CS map was included!) and obviously BETA 4 (Dust...), and I just wish I had a time machine to go back to those days and that tiny, tiny community. It was amazing. I sound like an old man (and you guys know I love HL nostalgia), but it was great. What's amazing is that it was only a few years ago. Time flies.
In other news, OMG!

article left too much out
i thought this article was alright but you left too much out that had alot to do with CS. Especially early CS. I actually have been playing CS since beta 1 and there was alot in the early days that didnt seem that odd at the time being but would be humorous now?!
- Early on there was no money cap, I can remember playing siege for an hour and having $74k.
- There were no w_models, so the guns dropped look like canisters.
- You couldn't pick up a "canister" that you had dropped, so if you ran into a room that had already been cleared you were playing the lottery and risking picking up a crappy MP5 for your oh-so-leet PARA.
- Guns stayed when the rounds ended resulting in people carrying guns all the way back to spawns for their team to pick up at the start of each round.
- Dead people could type to alive people letting alive people know where that damn camper was hiding.
- There was no knife! I can't tell you how many shootouts I saw end with neither player killing the other and they would be forced to stare at eachother till one of them typed kill or jumped off a cliff.
- You didn't include any of the gun inbalances that occured in different versions. There was a time when the glock, made the USP look like a daisy-shooting POS.
Those are just a few of the things I can recall of the top of my head that were left out, that are really funny in retrospect.
