    Steam Beta Client Available

    There's a new Steam BETA client available for anybody interested. To access it, go to the Settings in your Steam client and under "Beta participation" on the first tab, you can opt-in to this BETA.<ul><li> Changed desktop .ico files and games list .tga files to be downloaded from the CDN wherever possible, instead of having to be delivered to every client in the steam client depot<br />
    <li> Update Steam to get the content description information from local servers wherever possible<br />
    <li> Fixed serverbrowser not refreshing the internet list the first time it was displayed if it was right on startup due to the socket thread being starved and giving bad timing numbers<br />
    <li> Fixed hardware survey not always saving that you said you didn't want to participate<br />
    <li> Includes several Steamworks API improvements for future titles<br />
    <li> Fixed Team Fortress 2 from trying to synchronize and not launching<br />

    Steam Beta Client Available

    A fresh BETA round has started for the Steam client yesterday. As with every BETA, opting-in is optional but encouraged if you enjoy <a href="http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=730837">helping out</a>.<ul><li> Updated retail install wizard to support upcoming releases<br />
    <li> Fixed the storefront refreshing at times when it was not visible<br />
    <li> Fixed a potential client crash on new account creation<br />
    <li> Corrected text for bans and kicks in chat messages</ul>To opt-in to the BETA, go to your Steam settings and on the "Account" tab there will be an area for BETA participation. You know the drill by now, right?

      Steam Beta Client Available

      A beta for the Steam client was made available a short time ago. This beta fixes a handful of issues related to Left 4 Dead that cannot be addressed with a title update.<ul><li> Fixed NAT-traversal library using too much CPU during L4D - matchmaking<br />
      <li> Fixed several localization issues<br />
      <li> Fixed install wizard forcing clients to install the full version of a game instead of the demo version, when the full version isn't released yet<br />
      <li> Added l4d.com to the whitelist of chat url's not to warn about</ul>As usual, you can opt into the beta by going to your Steam client settings and opting in from the drop down menu under "Beta Participation" on the first tab.         Steam Beta Client Available

        A new beta for the Steam client just went up tonight. This beta begins to add in functionality for the Left 4 Dead server groups that are being worked on. This is especially important for those not too keen on simply using Matchmaking or for those looking to build up a community around a server.<ul><li> Added support for upcoming L4D server groups feature<br />
        <li> Several localized text fixes<br />
        <li> Improved behavior of Steam if a game it launched crashes<br />
        <li> Fixed a case where the game overlay could get stuck up while in-game<br />
        <li> Fixed a case where the game overlay could cause a game crash after alt-tab</ul>If you'd like to opt-in, go into your Steam settings and under "Beta participation" you should see a drop down box. The rest is self-explanatory.<br />

          A new beta is available for the Steam client. If you're eager to get to testing beta software, tonight is your lucky night.<ul><li> Updated game overlay web browser to support generic web browsing, including web sites that use flash<br />
          <li> Fixed games list scrolling behavior with pageup/pagedown and mouse wheel<br />
          <li> Many back-end Steamworks changes in preparation for a Steamworks SDK update</ul>The "generic web browsing" support is still very much a work in progress. If you'd like to opt-in to the beta, go to your Steam settings and under "Beta Participation" change to the "Steam Client Candidate" and restart Steam.<br />

            <li> Fixed a bug in the game overlay affecting some Dawn of War II beta participants who have the game overlay disabled<br />
