There have been some reports floating around today saying that if you do not download the 7GB day one patch for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 you may find that you only have access to the tutorial and the create a park feature.
People have suggested that the 7GB patch really isn't so much of a "patch" as it is the rest of the game. If you happen to buy the game retail and aren't connected to the internet, you're probably in for a bad time.
Then again, you might not be better off even with the day one patch. If true, this is some real horrendous work from developer Robomodo and publisher Activision.
