Ravenous Frog was released for the iPad today as a free download.
Ravenous Frog players help a very hungry little frog eat delicious bugs while avoiding dangerous hedgehogs, UFOs, eagles and more. As the game continues the bugs move faster and more dangers appear but don’t worry because bonus items provide the frog with special powers.
The game features an original score, artwork and programming by indie developer Marcus McConnell. “I wanted to create the type of game that I remember playing on Macs when I was in school,” said McConnell. “I wanted a game that was fun, whimsical and didn’t take itself too seriously.” The original musical score takes influences from another Virginia native, Bruce Hornsby. "I've always loved Hornsby's style and the Ravenous Frog score reflects the rich chord voicings he made famous," said McConnell.
McConnell is a professional software developer by day and an indie game developer by night. He has released several other games including Chief Chompers and Zen Brain for iPhone and iPad. Both are available for free on the iTunes App Store along with Ravenous Frog.
