Japanese gamers will get their hands on the PlayStation 4 on February 22, 2014, nearly three months after its release in North America (November 15, 2013).
The device will go for 39,980 yen, which is right around the $400 (USD) mark that is set for the North American release of the console. It will be offered in additional bundle deals. One of the bundles will include the PlayStation Camera and will be priced at 43,980 yen (about $440 USD). Another bundle offering will include a free downloadable copy of Knack and a one-year warranty extension.
Sony says this late release in Japan is being done to ensure that software best tailored for the region is done in time. Microsoft's Xbox One does not yet have a release date set for Japan, but it is expected that the device won't be released in Asia until late in 2014.
