Nosgoth is in Development but It is Not a Traditional Legacy of Kain Game says Square-Enix

Fans of the classic Legacy of Kain series were hopeful that a rumored Nosgoth title would mark the triumphant return of the series to its former glory. In speaking with VG247 today, Square-Enix confirmed that Nosgoth is in development but it isn't what fans are expecting to see.

Community Manager George Kelion of Square-Enix said:

“Nosgoth exists and is in active development, but is not a traditional Legacy of Kain action-adventure game. Nosgoth is set in the same universe as previous LoK games, but on a different branch to the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver series. The community should not be thinking of Nosgoth in terms of a single-player experience.”

“We don’t want people to get the wrong idea about Nosgoth following the AMD and Steam leaks ahead of its future official announcement. Nosgoth is not being developed by Crystal Dynamics. Crystal Dynamics are not working on a Legacy of Kain game”.

This followed the appearance of something called "War for Nosgoth" appearing in a recent ATI driver update and elsewhere. The game is not slated to be announced at E3 but Kelion said that they simply "wanted to just give folks a bit more context for the direction, rather than just batten down the hatches."

So, what do you think it is? A MOBA style game? An MMO set in the Legacy of Kain universe? Or perhaps it's a casual game?
