Tripwire Interactive has just announced the release date of Rising Storm, the stand-alone "next installment" in the Red Orchestra franchise. That date, for those who can't read headlines, is May 30, 2013.
Right now, you can pre-purchase the game to save 15% off of the normal price. I think you also get a bigger discount if you own Red Orchestra 2 already, which looks like it's 40% off of the normal price. Not to mention, you'll have access to the last few days of the beta leading up to the final release. Basically, you're paying a lower fee to play the game earlier. However, there are options and other incentives here.
It's a shame their press release announcement didn't include my "it's better than RO2 was at launch" for their wall of praise from the press. Tripwire Interactive's community guy, Yoshiro, informs me that my quote is apparently "on Kotaku", to which I replied "that doesn't make any sense," uploaded a screenshot, and then pressed "submit new thread."
