WTF is FairFight?!

I am sick & tired of cheating in Battlefield. Cheating is everywhere in games – not just Battlefield - and it has almost stopped me from wanting to play any FPS. That is hard for me to say because I have been playing Battlefield from the beginning. I don’t spend all day playing Battlefield (anymore) cuz I have real life responsibilities, but the time I do spend playing games I want to be fun. Unfortunately half of the time I spend now is looking for servers that don’t have hackers on them. I call this Hacksurfing. Maybe this word can be in the next version of Webster’s Dictionary (ha). Anyway, it really sucks to go into a server only to find one or two players on the other side completely dominating my whole team.

This weekend I dusted off my BF3 and started Hacksurfing for a server to play on. Lucky for me, I stumbled on a 48 slot Close Quarters server with “FairFight” in its name. I joined & right away no player that was taking over the game. WTF? Over the next couple hours I noticed a few players that seemed to be hacking & poof they’re gone --- booted from the server by Admin. I don’t know if this is live admin or some sort of anti-cheat program but it looks like I’ve found a server that is really free of hacking.

Today I thought I’d investigate this FairFight thing. I wasn’t able to find much, except that FairFight is a new anti-cheat service from a company called GameBlocks (www.GameBlocks.com). This seems to be the real deal. Here is the server – check it out & see if you agree or I’m crazy:

I never have any problems with hackers. Yes, sometimes there are very good players on battlefield, but they are not hackers, and fairfight definitely can't block them.

Is this some kind of system where the boot anyone who is very good at the game?

No of course not. Why would we want to do that? That would be pretty foolish.

I love the KOF server, but I have had to start Frapping when I play there to protect myself from being perma banned. I don't cheat and I am certainly not the best player among my friends. However, Fairfight seems to tag me each time I play on KoF.

I had a great start in that game and got a lucky flank on a group of support dudes that were spacing out and a couple revives to get myself 18-0. At 5:24 in the vid, Fairfight starts killing me every 30 seconds (or so).

I see what you mean there. It looks like it is a live-admin program that monitors stats/kdr/etc..

I just got a double kill (and died), and thought, I better be frapping this since it is a Fairfight server. I'm just killing people that don't know I'm there. But I guess I do it all too quickly.

I had a similar experience on a Bad company server last night. I had a very good run on a RUSH map in an APC and my K/D ration going on 20/2. Then I was warned that the server would kick me would it reach 25/2.
I found myself in a sweet spot close to the m-com taking out enemies while my squad pressed on for the M-com. Then suddenly I was kicked...................... and the only reason was that my K/D ration was to "good".
The problem with this kind of automated policing is that if you just are better than the rest this will have a heavy impact on the game as there are no person behind the decision to kick you. So if you are just having a good run this will ruin it for you.

Oh BTW we ended up loosing the round
