The world of speed runs is an interesting place. One day you'll see some guy beat a game in 9 minutes and you think to yourself, "wow, nobody will EVER beat that!" The next day someone does it in 8 minutes.
That's the idea of speed runs, everyone is always trying to glitch, trick, and bunny hop their way to the fastest completion time in the world. The previous record was a bit under 10 minutes and was entitled "Portal Done Pro". A new attempt was made by four members of SourceRuns: Nick "Z1mb0bw4y" Roth, Nick "Gocnak" Kerns, Josh "Inexistence" Peaker, and Sebastian "Xebaz" Dressler.
Each member had a number of segments that they individually completed as part of this speed run. Portal Done Pro-er was completed over a period of three months. If you're ready to have your mind blown at some of the tricks that these guys used, the video is below.
