Another delay hits the BioShock movie after the director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo leaves the project in the dust.
Reasons for the massive amount of delays ranges from concerns over the budget to rating issues. Gore Verbinski also left the project, which is the reason Fresnadillo was brought on as director in the first place. The ratings are a hot button issue. BioShock, if faithfully adapted from the game series would easily generate an R rating. The problem is, R rated movies tend not to do as well as PG-13 rated films, especially if it's a movie based off of a game that a younger audience would be more interested in.
Perhaps this film is about to go the way of the Halo film, never to actually see the light of day. Fresnadillo is looking to get started on a new entry in the Highlander series based more off of the first film than the others.
"To be honest, by now, I’m completely out of that, and developing other stuff," Fresnadillo told us during press rounds for his latest film, "Intruders." "Right now it’s on hold. The studio and the videogame company, they have to reach some kind of agreement about the budget and the rating."
