Giant Bomb and Jeff Gerstmann Return to Where it All Went Wrong - CBS Interactive

Earlier today it was announced that Whiskey Media was picked up by BermanBraun. With this acquisition, BermanBraun takes on Screened (video and film news), Tested (tech news), and Anime Vice (Anime, duh).

This leaves the gaming focused Giant Bomb and the comic book focused Comic Vine left over. Well, these two were picked up by CBS Interactive. CBS Interactive, if you don't already know, also owns Gamespot. Gamespot is the website that Gerstmann was once a staff member at prior to the whole Kane & Lynch 2 review fiasco that led to his termination after pressure from Eidos. He then went on to form Whiskey Media and the network grew quite considerably.

What this acquisition means for any of the sites involved is really anybody's guess right now. For fans of the network who enjoyed the constant cross-overs between staff members, this may spell doom and gloom for the possibility of any more joint projects. The full reveal came through a live broadcast earlier today, which can be found through Justin.tv and at the Giant Bomb website itself.

Pretty crazy, right? This is going to be the thing that allows us to make Giant Bomb bigger and crazier than it's ever been before, and I hope you all stick around with us. Just like Ryan's been saying, it won't be boring. OK, right now we're heading over to GameSpot offices for the first time since 2007. Be sure to check back at 4PM PDT, when we'll be addressing my termination. Finally! The story can be told!

As mentioned from Giant Bomb itself, the full story of Gerstmann's termination from Gamespot will be told tonight at 4PM PDT.
