thechineseroom and Frictional Games are teaming up on the next Amnesia title called Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. It's unclear at this point how many from thechineseroom will be working on this but damn if this isn't one amazing combo of development studios.
Teased over the past month, the next game in the Amnesia series treated players to a small ARG, which revealed not only the next game's name but two pieces of concept art. Dan Pinchbeck, writer for Dear Esther, told Joystiq that "it's not a direct sequel, in terms of it doesn't follow on from the story of Amnesia. It doesn't involve the same characters." The game will take place in an alternate history in the same universe.
The game plot takes place in 1899 and you play as Oswald Mandus, a wealthy industrialist returning home from a "disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy." You are struck by a severe fever in which Mandus has dreams of a sinister machine. Many months pass during this fever induced coma. Upon waking, the sounds of a machine's engines fill Mandus' ears.
To put it simply, this combo might result in the best horror game we've ever seen.
