The alpha for Cobalt, an action platform shooter thing with local multiplayer support was just released by Oxeye Game Studio and Mojang (makers of Minecraft).
Cobalt is a little difficult to explain, so I'll just leave that to the Yogscast to both show you the gameplay and offer up an interview with the game's developers to explain. However, the alpha for the game was released today and for 9.95 Euros (about $13 USD) you can get access to it (and all future updates).
The alpha features local multiplayer, singleplayer, co-op campaign, and a level editor. All of the components are really early builds of what will be flushed out more in later releases. Later releases will also add level sharing, Mac OSX and Linux support, a full campaign, and local multiplayer. Sadly, it seems as though online multiplayer isn't in the cards, which is a shame because this game looks like it'd be a bit of fun to play online.
