EA Confirms Xbox Version of Battlefield 3 to be Two Discs.

    From Eurogamer.net:

Eurogamer has discovered what is on each of the two Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 DVD discs.

"Battlefield 3 for Xbox 360 ships on two discs with endless hours of spectacular high-definition gameplay," EA told us this afternoon.

"Disc one features the stunning multiplayer, co-op levels and HD installation content.

"Disc two features the superb single-player campaign."

The PS3 version of Battlefield 3 will come on one, larger capacity, Blu-ray disc.

Some are speculating that the PC version will also be a two disc set. I, however, with Origin in mind, believe it will be a no disc set but you will have a code to download the content.

I expect the PC will be 2 disks as well. They don't have much more capacity than the 360 version.

Why do you think they will just give a code though?

maybe some codes to unlock physical warfare pack or limited edition perks like they did with BC2?

I think that just because of the Origin tie in and Modern Warfare 2. MW2 had a code you put into Steam and then I downloaded it. It had a disk, but I never used it once. Then the news I posted a few days ago about the boxes in Europe. The guy had his limited edition, but it was empty and just a code.

Yeah, I dont think the box will be empty empty, but I dont think there will be a disk.

The only reason I could see there being a disc is if EA/DICE wanted to give disks so that people didnt have to spend the time downloading the software. Thats not impossible.

Besides, Im just making a guess and could be entirely wrong.

That's odd that you never used the disk. It took me about 30 minutes to install off the disk. If I wanted to download the entire 16 GB, it would have taken a good two to three hours at my max d/l speed (about 2 mb/s). Not to mention, a lot of people have download caps and very slow download speeds and wouldn't be able to not use the disc.

The code was a DLC code from what I remember as well.

Yeah this. I know that EA arent exactly a very considerate bunch but I'm pretty sure they would have the brains to figure this out. Or at least make it like the orange box, Some on the disc, the rest downloaded online.

Well, there was reason for the madness. I didnt get home until late so I just set Steam up and let it do its thing. I didnt get to play until the next day.

Thats what made me think of the reason for having the discs. Bandwidth and saving time to play faster.

Maybe they are doing it like some of mods for BF2. I remember downloading the files up to three days early but with a password that wasn´t released until the official release day.The same might be happening here. For us who have purchased via Origin I seriously hope we will be able do DL some time before but not being able to play, except for the Beta, until release day.For participants in the Beta you would already have the entire game and only a game-day patch would be necesarry.

well they better only have that as a separate version. I'm not wasting money on a blue ray drive while the whole world goes Digi download.
