Battlefield 3 Beta Ready for PC but Needs Approval from Sony and Microsoft

Speaking at the FNAC meeting in Paris, France, DICE GM Karl Magnus Troedsson gave a co-op demo of Battlefield 3 and answered questions. According to Planete-Battlefield.fr (unrelated to us), Kusa (French Community Manager) said the PC beta is ready, but now they are working with Microsoft and Sony to "accelerate preparations". From what we have heard, it takes 2-3 weeks for Microsoft and Sony to approve content, running it through tests to make sure it won't brick your console among other things.

This could mean that the PC beta is being held up because of console approval or that the beta for PC is now ready and an explaination of where the console beta sits in the process. Either way, there is still no date on the beta or when we will know that.

Why do they have to wait for the consoles to release the PC beta. I thought the PC was the lead platform for BF3. Just another way for consoles to screw over the pc.

Actually, they never mention that the console was holding up the beta. Its assumed. The translation seems that they are explaining where the process is.

It could be that it is being held up by console, but, again, we dont know for sure. Besides, what is ready? Ready to go to Origin? Ready for download? Ready for testing? Is the website ready? Is Battlelog ready? Are these just files ready?

When I think of "ready" I think that it is ready to be put out there for download.

More than likely PC side has been finished waiting for release, and as always with most multiple system releases consoles are holding up the PC side again. Cheers to knowing BETA is getting closer at least.
