Not to sound like one of those guys that continually hates on CoD but those additions seem almost trivial to be honest... The weapon proficiency or whatever the call it sounds like just a repackaged perk system... Too many perks, guys! I'm all for perks and all, but it just seems way overboard. Also, BF3 has ruined my First person animation expectations for everything. Only Crysis has matched it atm... anyway... thats enough of my biased and uninformed fanboyism...

The thing is that perks change the game and how its played. Each system, since CoD4, had certain flaws and abuses. Most chose the same perks with little variance. Same happened with killstreaks in MW2. Well now theyve changed the entire streak system as well as removed perks that were abused and modified weaponry on top of that so even the guns you choose can change some.

Modern Warfare 3 could be what CoD4 and MW2 should have been, unfortunatly the hate is so great on the PC side of things that most will miss this point and it will not matter.

And actually, without mod tools, that would make it very hard to top the success of CoD4.

Well I keep hearing that Mod tools may be back in, though I shouldn't perpetuate something that I cannot confirm myself.

But yeah, you could be right. Maybe they have learned their lesson... But at the same time, why didn't they learn it properly 2 years ago with MW2? We could have avoided all this and maybe I would be almost as excited for it as I am for BF3 (of course, even if MW was still at its awesome levels of CoD4 it would never come close enough to beat Battlefield for me), and while they probably didn't like each other very much they could at least have picked up a few legitimate things from Treyarch. But also, over saturation can ruin the fun factor. I personally do not like the concept of choosing every little aspect of something as trivial as a weapon. The fact that certain things CAN be changed removes any personality that said weapons can obtain. As I said, I like perks. But being in control of every single pixel, then realising that combination doesn't work out and then starting over, and repeating the same process can be tiresome. I think even DICE should take a notice of these words too: Simplicity does not mean lack of depth.

I started playing counter strike, and while I am usually someone who loves a huge amount of weapons, I now see the upside of very few weapons. Few weapons creates a separate play style for each weapon, and not just weapon class. And you could even argue with the way things are going, the line between weapon classes is blurring at an alarming rate.

However, I plan on getting it still. Yes it possibly sounds hypocritical but I plan on capping off the singleplayer campaign and giving multiplayer a chance. Though Im not sure how much money I will have at release so thats still an unknown on how long it will take me to get it.

lol, Kill Confirm is designed to counter camping, but I can see it already, one or two snipers camping and a bunch of lightweights sprinting around collecting the tags

A scavanger effect maybe? That would be interesting to see how that pans out.

I also find it strange on how hard they are trying to stop camping, yet are promoting run-n-gun/spray-n-pray tactics. I know CoD has had smaller maps to create a more intense environment, but is there a need for more of it?

Camping isn't going away, it will always be around in one form or another. Only difference is for every ten that bitch about camping there is only one bitching forcamping, same for the tac crouch servers, for every tac crouch there are a dozens and dozens of run and gun and nuketown/shipment servers.

I'm really looking forward to everything MW3, because I know what I like and its all in there. BF3 is still unproven to me, but I'm looking forward to it anyways just because its BF.

Yeah, something is going on with the edit. No big deal on the B word. If you want me to remove it I can.

And yeah, I dont see "camping" as going away either. You are also right about the amount of people that complain about one thing or another. It always bugs me when everyone touts realism and tactics but then complain about camping. Its defense or securing a zone or zone playing. Its a legit tactic, even though people say it is not. They will then point out spawn killing as an example, yet running from one area to another killing people as they spawn seems to be OK because at least your moving? Then the argument about no skill. Yet the same people tend to complain about snipers having no skill, rocket/grenade launchers having no skill, using the M60 (BC2) having no skill. It ends up sounding more like whatever killed you was because of luck by the other person using a better weapon.

You know how the gunslinger lived to a tip old age, and bynot telling the other guy when he is going to shoot first. You know how the scoundrel lived to a ripe old age, by shooting the other guy in the back. How did the sniper live to a ripe old age, by not letting the badguys see him.

I'm someone who lives under the ideal that if you are dumb enough to continuously get killed by the same guy hiding in a corner without finding some other way of taking him out other than 'Stand in front like a bloody idiot' then you deserve to die continuously.

camping is a valid tactic. Countering camping is a dying skill as companies seem to be trying to do that for us.

Boy this transition to CS Nation certainly hasn't been painless

I remember in BF2 with the complaints of all the snipers after they fixed the sniper rifles, for me that just meant free points counter sniping. Instead of going to places for good vantage points of the map to snipe peons I chose all the good low to the ground places where I was hidden by shadows, terrain and other features with a nice few of the skyline. Snipers stood out like sour thumbs against the back drop and were a lot easier to hit then the moving targets on the ground since they needed to sit still to get their shots off. Before the other snipers wised up, Sharqi was one of my favorite maps, along with Mushtaar and Kubra (lots of low places to hide in).
