Re: Big Brother EA Spying on You?
Thats kind of like saying that it reads from disk. Of course it access the registry and ProgramData, it is where applications store vital info, including that relating to Origin and and its associated games.Originally posted by Anarchy1I saw another thread on another forum in which a user checked what files Origin accesses. It apparently accesses your registry and your ProgramData folder.
All these threads just crosslink to each other, and ultimately consists of nothing but wild guesses as to what EA might do based on the EULA. But so far nobody has caught them actually doing anything.Originally posted by RamboGet edumacated..
Part of Origin's EULA allows Electronic Arts to snoop through your system -- including installed and uninstalled software -- and send that information to third-party service providers.

We all know that EA is a bunch of evil, soulless lawyers (triple redundancy, extra score), but can we give it a rest until they have committed the crime? Corpus Delicti and all that.Comment

Yeah I know. I thought it could clear up at least some confusion on what Origin does. And note that those are the only things it accesses.Originally posted by VrekiThats kind of like saying that it reads from disk. Re: Big Brother EA Spying on You?
Sigh, remember the congress bringing up that terrorist were using BF2 to train. Perhaps this is some kind of under the table deal EA worked out with the US gov't. All joking aside, I still run Origin on launch and haven't taken any actions to block any traffic, but the EA TOS are a big FU to the users and have been for as long as I remember (like with the boosters and digital content originally having an expiration date when they first came out during BF2 and 2142).Comment

That could be. Maybe the government is doing something.
Of course I still think Google is part of the defunct FBI Carnavore project.

Re: Big Brother EA Spying on You?
Looks like EA officially edited its TOS, updated some places and not all to make it less evil. And of course since I've been reading various news sites all morning long I can't find the article anymore.Comment

Re: Big Brother EA Spying on You?
The update is a massive difference in words lol, they went from nazi to care bears haha.. But we all know the words is the only thing they changed.
I would say there first Eula was a self slap in the face and more like the true story to what happens in the games industry.
