In a recent interview with CVG, EA Label's Frank Gibeau said that the company is examining a few of the company's old franchises and are putting them under consideration for a possible return to the modern era. Among these titles are Striker and Road Rash!
As a personal plea from a huge fan of the original series, please don't screw this up for us EA. We LOVED the original series for what it was and there's a reason why the versions on the PlayStation were nowhere near as good as those on the Genesis. Abandon the crappy FMV sequences, go back to the series' roots. Make the end race sequences the funny animations from the original games. Those were great! Don't bog this down with unnecessary weapons either like the taser or any other hokey crap.
Stick to what made the originals great. This is why the fans are clamoring for the series to return. Learn from the mistakes made with the reboot of the Medal of Honor franchise.
And for those who may have forgotten, EA was working on some really rough builds of a Road Rash revival back in 2007. The following is the only footage the world has ever seen of it.

"We've got 25 years of good IPs and I've worked on a few of them in my career like Road Rash and the Strike series. So I have a strong affinity for a lot of the things we've done in the past.

He added: "Like basically what we did with Medal of Honor when we brought it back; we looked at going after more modern themes... the war that's happening now as opposed to a historical war. That was the reason we brought Medal of Honor back.
"But when we look at Road Rash, the Strike series or some of these other franchises we really challenge ourselves. We can't just put them on new tech with the same gameplay from ten years ago, we've got to have something new. That's the typical challenge that we have."
