Origin isn't bad anyway. It has everything you need...a friends list and an in-game overlay with browser. Plus I would assume it would allow for greater integration with Battelog to make the community more connected.

As bad as MW2 and Black Ops were, I did like how I knew everyone would be running Steam and I could add them if I wanted.

you won't need to have Origin installed tbfh, it would be very rageworthy for a lot of people if you had to, then again I wouldn't put it beyond EA (they have been getting better lately after all) it would be required for the beta I imagine as it was for the alpha although I'm wondering how updating BF3 will work, perhaps like BC2

What is the big deal with Steam anyway? Why does everyone love Steam? I have been reading on other sites how people are not going to purchase BF3 just because it is not going to be on Steam? Oh well their loss.

Good question. I've only ever bought one game through Steam.

Because they have all their games on Steam? Or they don't want to have two third-party programs running? But to not buy the game just because of Steam is a little strange.

This. Sometimes I too get worked up about it not being on steam, then I realise Steam is only one of my forms of distribution, I still have many non-steam games, then I quieten down...

This. Steam is an all-in-one package and an easy way to get to play with your friends and all that.

The thing is that Battlelog and Origin make that a moot point.

And again that's fine and dandy until you run into games that also released on Games for Windows, wich force you to install GFW Marketplace.

And from what I have seen, a ton of people have most of their games... from rebates on steam, so they have a TOn of very old games. And steam is great for those, but not for newer games. Steam lovers also conveniently forget the fact everything Steam does, Xfire does it too and better, since Xfire works with all games and you can screenshot and videorecord all games without the hassle Steam makes you go through with screenshots.

                  And Steam doesn't record video.
