I'm not defending them per se but I just thought to mention that. Didn't Pick up BlOps because my Processor (a 2.33 Ghz C2 Duo) at the time wasn't strong enough, and now I CBF.Originally posted by CptainCrunchWhere were the hardened and elite editions the consoles had? Why were the maps small? Why are things like fps and fov limited or locked? Why was performance best on xbox and not ps3 or pc?
Treyarch does better than iw, but they still left things out and fit they're games to one specific brand.

Re: DICE Explains Battlefield 3 Console Differences
To me the pc version sucked with dedicated servers because all I ever saw was 24/7 nuketown or crouch servers. I hated nuketown. Where as the Xbox version I did like because all I had to do is click on say domination game type and bam, full match found.Originally posted by 5t3v0Not quite. Not quite. WAW and BloOpers had dedicated servers.Originally posted by CptainCrunchAlso, nevermind how CoD was scaled down for console and had less features on PC starting with CoD4. Of course, that was in the past and the last CoD title had dedicated servers!Leave a comment:

Re: DICE Explains Battlefield 3 Console Differences
Its ok Jimy
And then Yeah, on MAG. Lets compare the two games EXACTLY and see whats different about them.

Re: DICE Explains Battlefield 3 Console Differences
They are also trying to figure out how MAG could handle 256 players and BF3 can't handle only 24. One look at a graphical comparison would answer that.Leave a comment:

Re: DICE Explains Battlefield 3 Console Differences
Im reading some of the comments and console players are speaking up about the BF3 part being a bunch of lies
At least they "say" they are console players. Glad to see some are not falling for that.

Re: DICE Explains Battlefield 3 Console Differences
Good videdo Jimy. Its a shame the lady in the video knows NOTHING of what she is talking about. Commenting on the 24 cap is such a mindless cheapshot. Lets not talk about how the consoles are going on 6+ years old now and that the technology wasnt cutting edge at that time. Well, at least she is pretty, right? Oh yeah, I also noticed the video came from IGN. They've shown they are not biased based on developers /sarcasm.
I can see Activision using this as a "See, console will be bad for BF3, so buy MW3 instead." You watch, just a matter of time. I think thats why DICE is heading this off as well. Activision CEO was quick to say how EA isn't showing console footage.
Also, nevermind how CoD was scaled down for console and had less features on PC starting with CoD4. Of course, that was in the past and the last CoD title had dedicated servers!
Now Im on a rant :/

I saw this a min ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCfXI...&feature=feedu
and i ran into the forums to tell you this guys, but it seems crunch got a more detailed upper-hand.
"We want to create the same experience for PC as for consoles"
I hope they do not "dumb down" the pc because the console is so sucky :P. What i mean by this is, that they see they can't really go forward with the console, so to make the games look more similar side to side, instead of pushing pc to the max they dumb down pc aswell so it isn't as different from the console and does not upset console players. Is this crazy talk? might be, i'm not in my normal state of mind right nowLeave a comment:

DICE Explains Battlefield 3 Console Differences
From computersandvideogames.com:
DICE has promised Battlefield 3 fans that the cuts its made on the console version of the game are the cleverest compromises it could have made.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will allow for fewer players in multiplayer and have more "compact" maps, according to the studio.
DICE boss Patrick Bach explained: "The biggest difference between the PC and console version of Battlefield 3 is that we have 64 players on PC and 24 players maximum on console. The rest is more or less the same: we use the same engine, the same technology, the same animation system, the same lighting system. Our aim is to give the player the exact same experience and not try to dumb down the console version.
"If you want the same quality of game, I would say it's really, really hard. We tried to get more players in [to the console version] but then you need to scale down all the graphics, scale down all the destructibility, and sometimes you need to scale down all the map sizes. Everything is a compromise on: where do you cut?
"You could argue that other games do [fewer] players as well. There are games that do less, and there are games that do more. We don't see games that have more players as a better experience, so having more players per se doesn't automatically give you a better experience."
He told German site GameZone.de: "Everything is a compromise. It's not that we're evil or stupid. We didn't choose not to have more players - we would love to do 64 players on console but then we would have to cut away so much; people would get very upset that it looked worse, played worse and wasn't as fun as the PC version. We would never do that because the fun is always more important."
Bach confirmed that there would be jets in the console version of the game, adding: "That's another reason: if we had more players [on console] you might have to take away vehicles because there's a lot of data that has to go through the network and the CPUs. If you had more vehicles, that would mean less players and vice versa."
When asked if the maps in both versions were the same, Bach added: "More or less. When we say they are smaller, it's not that we have cut them in half. But we tried to compact them slightly to keep the action up. If you compare it to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the maps weren't really small on console. We actually had huge maps even for console. We have the same kind of angle on it right now [in Battlefield 3]. We want to create the same experience for PC as for consoles."
So further confirmation that the console versions of Battlefield 3 will be done very well with just a few adjustments to get as much on the platforms as possible.
