I've been in tons of betas.Halo 3, Halo Reach, Gears Of War 3, BF2142, Bad Company, Modern Warfare, World at War, Little Big Planet, I could go on, and never ever released anything.I'm just saying not everyone has integrity ... or fear of EA lawyers.

Re: Battlefield 3 Closed Alpha Trial Starting and Requirements Revealed
its more than that... a lot of guys have the same veteran status but one gets in and one doesnt. maybe they look at total # of hours played?Originally posted by DangerdogSounds like they're going off of your "Veteran" status, i.e. how many Battlefield games you've purchased. The only PC one I skipped was Vietnam, I never played any of the console ones.Comment

I don't think those are the final game requirements. I am hoping those are just the game requirements for the alpha test.

Like someone said before why alienate the dual core crowd? They would sell alot more of the game if they didn't. Also I think it was mentioned that if you could run BC2 then you could at least run BF3 on low.

NOt just he says theire the recommended settings as just by comparing these two: Recommended Frostbite PC Specifications for BFBC2 Processor: Quadcore Main memory: 2GB Graphics card: GeForce GTX 260/ ATI Radeon 4870 Graphics memory: 512MB OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7 Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2) Recommended settings for the Alpha trial BF3: •OS: Windows 7 or Vista (SP1) •Installed: Origin •CPU: Quadcore @ 2.0 GHz or faster •RAM: 4 GB or more •Hard Drive: 7.25 GB free disk space •Video: 512 MB or greater •DirectX 10 or 11 compatible card with latest drivers (AMD 11.5 or later, nVidia 275.33 or later) •Sound: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible card •Internet: broadband connection Note that these do not necessarily represent the requirements for the final game. Now, bf3 should be having more detail, bigger maps and more players inside the map but dont forget that the game is also beeing built as a pc game and the engine is beeing build from scratch, the minimal requirements should be similar/a little higher than : (these are bfbc2's minimal) OS: Windows 7 or Vista (SP1) Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz Memory: 2GB Graphics: 256 MB Video Card (GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900) DirectX®: DirectX 10, and 11 supportComment

Re: Battlefield 3 Closed Alpha Trial Starting and Requirements Revealed
they aren't alienating the dual core crowd, but you can't expect them to push the envelope on 4 year old tech. It is an engineering wonder they are making BF3 look this good with current tech. Or more like, I'm glad they are not pulling an iD or Crytek and programming for a not yet built PC on the off chance that architecture will shift in the coming years; like it will happen to RAGE.Originally posted by stilla-killaLike someone said before why alienate the dual core crowd? I can't watch that game and wonder how good it would had been 3 years ago, or 2 years ago; but it's looking more and more dated everyday.
Mind you, it has good graphics and awesome textures, but it looks plastic like the Unreal 3 engine looks.Comment

Okay, I am not good on this part...Originally posted by ;•Video: 512 MB or greater
•DirectX 10 or 11 compatible card with latest drivers (AMD 11.5 or later, nVidia 275.33 or later)
Is this saying ANY video card with "DirectX 10 or 11 and 512 MB" is "RECOMMENDED"?Comment

It actually looks like they´re already alienating the XP users so why not us Dual Core users.Comment

Good to be honest, I hate seeing games being restricted to DX9 when DX11 is so much prettier & optimized.Originally posted by eradicator8It actually looks like they´re already alienating the XP users so why not us Dual Core users.Comment
