PunkBuster NOT Confirmed for Battlefield 3

Battlefieldbc.ru and bf3.com.ua, both Russian Battlefield sites, had some podcasts posted up. Unfortunatly they are in Russian. Battlefieldo.com posted up the highlights of what was mentioned in english:

Looks like the Russian Battlefield Websites battlefieldbc.ru and bf3.com.ua had the opportunity to hold a podcast with the Russian Battlefield Community Manager Eugene “Joe” Olenev.

- Hitboxes are much improved in comparison with BFBC2.
- Recoil is really hard and needs to get used to.
- The closed betatest for MoH owners will be held but no word on date yet.
- There will be ingame VOIP.
- The anticheat system is PunkBuster.
- There are three slots for weapon customization.
- Character customization will be up but no word on details.
- BF3 will be greatly optimized. DICE is willing to optimize it for all platforms and hardware.
- System specs won`t be “fantastic”. They will be reasonable.
- The feeling of BF3 is truly different. It`s not BF2 and not BFBC2.
- BF3 will be highly cybersports-oriented.
- There`s no final decision about commo-rose at DICE.
- Battlelog is a web-application for BF3.

Its good. It may have been a bad translation that system specs will not be high but at a reasonable level.

Oh also, the cyber sports, that competition at an organized level. Certain tools are really a great thing to have to make that work and, lately, the last few games have not really had them.

well a lot of options and features will for sure make me play the game longer. If the game keeps rewarding me with actual stuff other than levels and medals, and if that "battlelog" thing is kewl and useful enough , alowing you so share all those stats and media i might get hooked on to it.

As long as it helps cool down some people it's ok I guess; the vast majority of pub players couldn't care less. I put that in the great to be there for the people that like it, but doesn't take points off for me.

That would be VAC and the so called "delayed ban", right? So far the delay seems to be about 3 years....
PB is a crappy solution, it is just that all the alternatives are even more crappy. And I don't think any of us would like to see what EA could come up with on their own.

Yeah, I love valve and all, but what made them think that a delayed ban was a great solution for hackers? Murderers on death row don't murder people again because they don't have proper access to people. You don't leave them free for them to live it up while they can.

My friend said that Punkbuster is the equivalent of a down syndrome child. If thats the case VAC is the afterbirth.
