The annual Mario Marathon is currently underway. Actually, it started yesterday and fortunately we remembered about it today. What is Mario Marathon? It's a group of dedicated gamers who get together every year to play a variety of Mario games. They play for as long as people keep donating, more donations unlocking more levels.
All donations go towards Penny-Arcade's Child's Play Charity. The group also takes viewer requests for dances, songs, and they give away a number of items at random throughout the event. Last year, they went for 760 levels and raised over $82,380 (USD) for the charity, almost three times the amount they made in 2009's event. The group is already up to Mario Sunshine, over $45,000 donated, and 684 total goals unlocked!
