Yeah, it's being done by EA "Easy" studio but I imagine there are some DICE people working on it seeing that it's setup is so similar to Battlefield Heroes.

      Also made by Easy Studios.

Other games made by Easy Studios (and not DICE):
      Fifa Online
      Mirrors Edge 2D
      Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online
      Dragon Age: Journies
      Lord of Ultima
      Need for Speed World

So they make various games from other studios as well.

With the way the pc market is right now on FPS-shooters attracting the most amount of players will insure success. BF3 will have mod tools. A lot of money will still be made from DLC content.

I don't see very many similarities with the BF3 marketing strategy that's been going on compared to any other game lately.

PC users have shown EA that they can still create a large sum of money for a gaming company. Embracing our needs right now could easily generate the largest FPS PC launch in history while everyone else is stuck on consoles.

Consoles are not the future. The future is remote gaming on portable devices powered by computers with extraordinary capabilities. OnLive is the beginning of a new era in gaming. I'm not saying it will be OnLive or even the exact model of their cloud based setup.

Internet will likely be fiber to area and wireless to the user.

The largest internet provider in america has absolutely horrible plant and I can not stress horrible enough and they make the least amount of upgrades to hang on to their customer base. Verizon's fiber distribution to the home was a mistake. A single run of fiber and then wireless to the user is much more practical.

          Hello everyone!

Over the last 6 years I have progressively lost all faith in DICE. The trauma studios rape, the horrid mod support for BF2, and the PC betrayal present in the Bad Company Series all are factors in this outlook. DICE has turned into an EA pawn, driven by profits and not community support.

Enjoy 1942, Vietnam, BF2, 2142 while they are still being played; they represent a more pure effort by DICE and the mods developed for them are priceless.

Good bye BF1943, hello BF3. I'd be lying if I say I wasn't looking forward to '43, but I've been waiting years for BF3.

The other thing abou this is we all knew what was going on and that it was vaporware. I think we all already said our goodbyes.

And I can't say this is bad news, really. Companies like these don't have a huge number of programmers. Hell, Valve only has 150-200 employees, so I doubt DICE has anymore than that. Cutting out extra smaller projects will free up a larger percentage of people to work on BF3, hopefully making it less buggy and better by release. I can honestly say that I think BF3 will be even less buggy. Look at BC2, it certainly still had it's bugs, but compared to the BF2142 or BF2 releases, it was a significant improvement in my book.
hopefully BF3 won't be so buggy that it will still require patches even 4 yrs after the game's' release like 2142.

Fiber and then wireless? That is like taking the Concorde and then walking home from the airport.

We need a quantum leap in internet technology before latency sensitive games can be rendered centrally. You don't need many miliseconds of input-lag to make the game unplayable.

I think EA made a good decision here, it is time to cut their losses and focus on what really matters in the war against CoD.
