Fifth Map Announced for Bad Company 2:Vietnam

Today, we are happy to announce a fifth multiplayer bonus map in our upcoming expansion pack Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam!

This bonus map joins the previously announced Hill 137, Vantage Point, Phu Bai Valley and Cao Son Temple for a total of five maps in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. Some of you might recognize the setting, as this is the classic Operation Hastings map made famous in our PC game Battlefield: Vietnam from 2004.

If you didn’t play it back then, it’s one of the favorites among our fans, featuring everything awesome in one fantastic arena: boats, helicopters, tanks, jeeps, temples, and the signature bridge dividing the map into two strategic areas. To make things a little more interesting, we’re giving you, the players, the power to unlock this fifth map!

So what do you need to do? Easy. You and all your friends playing on PS3, PC, or Xbox 360 need to perform 69 million team actions across Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam. So what’s a team action? Well, it’s any and all of these: resupply, revive, heal, spot, and repair. We start counting on December 21st, so make sure you contribute from the start!

For an action packed preview of the map and this community challenge, just watch the video at the top of this post.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam is out December 18 on EA Store and Steam (PC version). December 21 world-wide on Xbox 360. December 21 on PS3 in North America, and December 22 on PS3 in Europe.

Interesting idea to unlock a map based on community participation. Hopefully PC will not end up last in the deal. Hate to see consoles having better teamwork than PC

One of my biggest complaints about this game is lack of maps. The new patch and this really are a great step in the right direction. The other big thing for me is the medics getting LMG's but I wont hold my breath for that to ever change.

so $15 for 5 maps ($3 per map) such a deal!!! Actually it isn't because Bad co 2 on Steam was just $20 a couple weeks ago and on PC we just got 4 new maps for FREE. This gets into the classic argument/legacy of BF expacks and how they fragment the community. I loved BF2 but it was sad how Special Forces, Euro-forces and Armored Fury didn't do anything to expand the community. Same could be said for 1942 with Road to Rome and Secret Weapons and 2142 with Northern Strike. YES I am old and in minority having played all the BF games since their creation. It also means I can see patterns better than most younglings. I hope BF3 is built for PC gamers who like to have prone along with crouch and standing, who like to have dedicated servers, who like lan, who like co-op, who like more than just 4 classes and who think auto-heal is ri-cockulous.

Re: Fifth Map Announced for Bad Company 2:Vietnam

Sorry johnny, but its still a good deal.

As you stated, they did this in BF2 with expansion packs and DLC. They did it further with other BF titles as well, such as with Road to Rome and Secret Weapons. Its nothing new with Battlefield.

Also, the way DICE is doing it now, you dont get kicked from a server without having the maps. That was always the worst and you see a good game die as soon as it went to an expansion map. Yes, its dividing Vietnam from vanilla, but Special Forces also co-existed well with BF2. EA/DICE cant give it all away so everyone can play together because there will always be someone who wont buy it and at least this way they are "seperate" and not just killing servers.

And even though the price of BC2 is now $20, its also heading towards a year after release. That price is a lot better than the CoD games that are over a year old as well as the DLC that disconnects people for not buying along with no choice on servers.

I dont like the division either, but of all the ways it could be done, this is probably the least destructive to the community.

Oh, and not to mention how fast you switch between the games and not load two different actual games. Thats a nice change and makes it easier to go between them. (I assume that based on the Vietnam link in the load screen. It may not be that fast after release.)

Wow i really love this! i have been playing since 1942 with mods, all the way up to now. and this exapnsion pack looks awesome and for 10 pounds only!! (In Britian). I still play BC2 which is great because i was playing MW2 before that and quickly left it behind same with Black Ops. Battlefield is still my battlefield and atacama desert is my karkand. battlfield fan!
