Black Ops Servers Around the World

I wanted to do a post on locations available for Black Ops Ranked servers for everyone, but it seems that the site is designed to read the IP address and give its recommendations for the person looking at the site instead.

So, with that being said, here is my list:

Others have posted up that they seem to have the same list of servers. The_Eliminator posted up this article that there is now another server provider for Australia:

So does this mean that there will not be enough servers for everyone from one central provider? Will we see other providers get selected to help host this game that is looking to exceed Modern Warfare 2 sales? I guess we will find out how it goes come November 9th as well as after release date.

This really ****s me. I have been putting in my recommendation for a Perth AU server for about a month now and still heard nothing back. Why are companies such as this so ignorant to believe that Perth is "OMG SO CLOSE TO ADELAIDE ITS IN THE SAME COUNTRY". Have they even checked how big Australia actually is?

Yeah. Unless they get a lot of seperate people asking for it, its probably not going to happen.

It also looks like the list I posted is the entire list. For being the entire world, it sure doesnt seem like a lot. There are hardly enough server locations in Europe. Only one in the UK, is that normal?

Maybe a few more can check and see if they get some different ones.

My initial thoughts are that this "Game Servers Only" rule will be very short lived and that hopefully we will start to see other provider be allowed access.

Yeah, see, the gameservers only thing is already falling apart. There are a lot of gaps on that list that I posted up and I dont think the community is just going to accept the fact that their $60 game can only be played on one server that is oversubscribed 1500+ miles away.

Do they really only have 25 total locations for the entire world?

For some people, this game is going to suck ass. I generally get pings from 15-25ms to Chicago, so I'm not too worried about that part. A little concerned with oversubscribing/overloading, though.

Well I don't know much about other server providers, but this seems like a lot of locations for a single U.S. provider to have. But that is the problem with having only one server provider, especially a U.S. based one. Of course they aren't going to have as many servers in Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, etc. If the deal wasn't in place, you could have a server provider based in those locations handle the servers because they probably more data centers there.

I'm sure most of the U.S. will be fine. I get about 30 ping to Atlanta and 70-90 ping to New York, Chicago, and Tampa. But unfortunately, there are tons of players from all over the world.
