10.7 Million Units Pre-Sold for Black Ops

    From gamesindustry.biz:

    <a href="http://images.totalgamingnetwork.com/images/bopeep.jpg"><img src="http://images.totalgamingnetwork.com/images/thumb_bopeep.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>
Although not due for release until November 9, Activision and Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops is generating enough interest to sell over 10.7 million units in its first year on sale in the US, according to Cowan & Company.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game is already in the top ten pre-order charts at Amazon.com and GameStop.com, with analyst Doug Creutz suggesting that the high-profile departure of talent from Activision hasn't harmed the Call of Duty brand.

"This is a very impressive display of strength and we believe the title is headed for a better comparison versus last year

One thing that bugged me a bit on this information is the comment about the departure of talent. That is just not true with Treyarch. As far as I know they are fine and have had no exodus.

Those are some very large numbers. What are your thoughts on the reason why people are jumping to the next game? You think they are bored? Maybe they want something new? Console community are huge fans to the CoD franchise? Sheeple being sheeple?

I still wish they would make the single player portion of the game longer.

They are talking about doing that. I havent posted it up because its so gigantic, but bashandlash.com has a series of articles and there is one about singleplayer and they are focusing more on it this time around.

I posted something else about Black Ops in the MW2 section. Didn't know where else to post it.

This is what caused all of the nonsense in the first place. People buying games based on hype and not substance makes publishers spend $4million on TV ads and $100,000 paying the actual developers, which makes publishers cocky, then they release a bunch of ****ing garbage, while charging $10 extra, then they charge $15 for three maps...

I would preorder, but I have no clue of Steam integration or where I am going to be. I would prefer to get this game so I can redownload it from Steam any time I want to rather then having to relay on a CD and Key, but at the same time I wanna go in line and chat with all those nice folk again at the midnight release.

I wonder what the PC pre-order sales are like - LOL.

I've given up with Activision and their shoddy work. Along with the player base that's idea of a boycott is "say nasty words then buy it anyway and complain".

There was a time. When Activision was a sign of pure unadulterated quality. Those days are over, without any sign of revival.
