Where are my G3 and Mk14 Optics?

This just in from the BF Blog:

A significant number of community members have recently asked "Where are the 4x Rifle Scope and Red Dot Sight for the G3 and Mk14?" After all, they appeared briefly in some preview videos, and were in the game at some prelaunch community events. Where'd they go? Simply put, optics on the All Kit weapons were removed before we launched the game.

Why were All Kit optics removed?

Tests internally and with playtest groups showed that when equipped with the 4x Rifle Scope these All Kit weapons functioned similar to the Recon kit's weapons. Removing these optics preserved the distinct combat roles of each Kit, and generally reduced the amount of sniping on the Battlefield. Without optics the G3 and Mk14 are interesting alternate weapons for each class, without becoming overpowering.

Will we ever see All Kit optics return?

We don't currently have any plans to introduce optics for the All Kit weapons. But we are eager to hear even more opinions from the community. Do you want to see All Kit optics?

I dont know if I do or not. If it really showed that everyone went sniper on all the weapons, well, we already have enough of that as it is.

Then again having some attachment options are always nice.

yeh I can understand that point with the MK14

I don't think the shotguns should have optics, close range weapons after all and otherwise everyone would be slug sniping

perhaps let the G3 have some, or perhaps just the red dot for the MK14

I do feel sorry for the MK14, I mean the pictinny rail on that thing must be crying from neglect...

Well, if balance is an issue, that must be the reason, but like others said, it would be nice

(all opinions expressed are from someone who has closely followed the game but as of yet has not played multiplayer, or very much singleplayer. No flamez plz)

This is rubbish if you ask me! the point of the M14 is its supposed to be a counter sniper weapon yet you are neglecting everything that makes it that! The sights atm are simply ****, you couldnt hit a barn door with them.

The G3 is fine as it is and imo has some of the best sights in the game but the M14 needs something done to it.

I completely agree, the M14 has crappy iron sights and should have the red dot. As it is now, nobody uses the M14 because you can't see your target through the blurred rear iron sight. Since about 2 weeks after release i have seen maybe no more than 25 people total using the M14 yet i have seen well over 300 people high enough level to unlock it. The least they could do if they won't allow the red dot on the M14 is to give it a different rear sight so it's not completely blurred out when sighting because of the depth of field.

I would say allow the re dot for the M14 and the G3. I agre the sights on the G3 are superb but a red dot would be awesome. The acog would totally over balance these weapons and sights on the shotties are a no-no.

I loved the G3 from BF2 and I can still rock with it now, controlled bursts at all times and you destroy your enemy. G3 , acog, n00b tube and magnum ammo FTW. Evil :)

I think those guns would be a little too powerful (especially the G3) if you could use the different optics. And why use different optics when you got...

I agree; you need to be permitted to put a red dot on the M14 something fierce. G3, well, I don't know.

Personally, I'd love to put a red dot on the 870 so you can snipe with slugs. We all know how fun that is :)

I think the only gun that needs it is the M14, the G3 is powerful enough and has great sights anyway. Maybe they should just render a model of the m14 with a red dot or some sort of scope already attached so that they dont have to add the scopes to every gun.
