    In a recent interview with The Economist, Nintendo's Director of Creating High Profits, Shigeru Miyamoto, went on record to say that 2009 was not the best year Nintendo has seen. Take a look:

    Overall, says Mr Miyamoto, 2009’s crop of games may just have been less compelling. “We were not able to produce fun-enough products,” he says. That highlights the importance of continued innovation, he says—but it leaves unanswered the question of whether gaming is indeed recession-proof.

    He added: “There are always ups and downs in this business. As long as we create unique and unprecedented experiences with videogames, there should be nothing to worry about.”

    With Nintendo finally being admitting that their past E3 showings, and even now their 2009 line-up, were less than fantastic, can gamers expect them to take a more serious approach?
