  • Updates Made to the Steam 2010 UI Beta Thus Far

It's been a few days since the beta kicked off for the new Steam 2010 UI. Since its release there have already been three days worth of updates released to the beta client. If you haven't been keeping up with the changes, we'll give you a quick review here.

    2/23/2010

    - Fix a crash in the achievements code
    - Fix a crash in the font code if a font is not found
    - Fix windows rendering all black in some cases if you have a second monitor in negative coordinate space

    2/24/2010

    - Fix Arial Bold font for menus not being found and menus rendering empty
    - Fix a common crash rendering web pages
    - Fix for apps that have already been downloaded re-downloading on initial beta opt-in
    - Fix for a common failure discovering HTTP proxy settings which prevented Store/News/Community pages from loading
    - Fix for text on Windows 7 with higher than normal DPI settings getting clipped vertically
    - Fix for a texture memory leak in the in-game overlay that could lead to crashing after a while

    2/25/2010

    - Fix for the most common overlay crash, which was also in in-client crash for users in large group chats
    - Fix for a potential crash browsing the store
    - Fix for game names in the overlay overlapping the centered overlay close text
    - Fix for some unicode characters not displaying correctly
    - Fix for Windows 7 or Vista users with DirectWrite font support not having BGR monitors detected correctly so ClearType looked bad

Expect there to be plenty more updates made to the beta client in the coming days, possibly weeks.
