you obviously have no idea when we are talking about paid content splitting up the community. it's not a speculation, it's a fact. it's happened with BF2 booster packs and BF2142's northern strike booster pack. if a server ever rotates to those maps that not everyone has, players drop dramatically and eventually these "add-on" maps are no longer even hosted. if in the future these DLC paid maps come out, it will likely go through the same thing as i have metioned. if you paid attention at all, nobody is complaining about the FREE DLC, we are just worried that PAID DLC will cause splits in the community like it has in the past. some people just love to jump in the discussion and flame without thinking...

Actualy you didn't specify which DLC you were talking about. You could have been talking about the paid dlc or the free dlc. And since the topic was about free dlc everyone assumed you were talking about that. Next time be more specific.

Lol what bullshit. Why can't they include the maps on release? Yeah, just trying to get people used to the idea of an in-game shop for easy extra $$$ from everything that came free before.

It's part of EA's tactic of promoting the original customers, console games are easily traded between people and many people just buy a game and then return it or trade it in, maybe even getting a 2nd hand copy in the first place. Offering free dlc for the original buyers only lets EA make more money from 2nd hand customers, as they have to buy it to have it available.

Why they're appearantly sticking to the same system for the PC is a mystery to me, but they'll probably tweak the system accordingly for that.

yes its mainly to kick the trade in console guys in the balls

if you buy the game you don't have a problem, its not like the second hand PC game community is as large as the console one

in Mass Effect 2, you just got a code in the game box, register it etc and you can download the DLC, will work the same way with BC2

so on launch day more or less everyone will have the DLC unless they don't bother downloading it, that part of the tactic isn't there to make you pay more £££ its sort of a reward for loyalty (but more as I said a kick in the balls to the trade in people on consoles)

as for DLC after that I imagine there will be some paid, I don't mind paying for DLC as long as the price is good

They don't say, but I am sure it will be because Steam users still bought the game too. Especially since DICE has worked very close with Steam for this game.

The logical thing would be to just include the dlc in a steam update, since there are no secondhand games on steam anyway.
