Generally I see people confuse server files, with "no dedicated servers" it's getting to the point where I want to slap them and teach them to read.

I can understand that. But I'm not confusing the two. Why we wouldn't see dedicated server files so that we can host our own game is beyond me.

Especially that BF2 and BF2142 had them come with the game on the disk.

It might have something to do with ranked server providers paying a fee to EA.

Why can't it be the security reason?

Seriously? Yes. Am I allowed to be concerned about server files now?
Seriously Bob? You do understand that There is only so much bandwidth to go around right. Destruction takes some, so does player count..

It has nothing to do with system resources.

It can be for any number of reasons, but I have just observed a certain cash-flow-maximizing behaviour whenever EA is involved in BF.
                  *Ingame ads in BF2142
                  *Price hikes in BF:H
*Expansion packs like Northen Strike that gives an advantage in the core game
*And their stange version of Digital Distribution where you game is only downloadable for a few months, unless you buy "insurance"

So I dont think my explanation is unlikely.

No, those are some pretty strong points Vreki.

The only thing I wonder is what the ratio of ranked/unranked servers are?
