People are just going for shock value, as if it will change the dev's mind. Bad C 2 will be far from fail. Even if every Tom Dick and Harry that's saying it doesn't have Ded Serv NO buy!

The fail thing about MW2 wasnt not the damn modtools it was the no dedicated servers and **** Anti-Cheat BFBC2 is going no where near the direction of MW2

EA had a big mouth about how they would not go into the same direction as Activision/IW by restricting the gamer. But now that we get closer to the release the truth of the matter is there is very little difference. No mod tools, no server files (wonder if they are released with the full game), smaller player numbers and who knows what else we can expect the coming months.

And I've been playing Battlefield games since the very first Tobruk demo in 2002 so I know damn well that the BF games are great. Without mods though they wouldn't be so successful. They extended the life of the games by years. You get a few free games with different themes (WW2, Modern Combat, Vietnam, Starwars) which keeps it fresh and exciting. No matter how good a BF title BC2 will be, after a few months you'd like a change of pace.

GVD Did confirm that the public will NEVER see BC2's Dedicated server files with the Final product, and after the hell they went thru with BF2 I really don't blame them. Piracy is also a factor in this decision as well, and again I don't blame them. BC2 will still be able to be "modded" in the sense that I very much doubt that they will do what IW does and lock down the code preventing any modification, granted with no tools things will still be hard to do, but if a community can take MW2 and make it run on a dedicated server sans steam, I think we'll be OK when it comes to this game.

Because of the time gap between BF2 and this game I think people have way to un-realistic expectations for this game. The BC series lives and breathes console, this time around its just being dressed up for PC play with PC specific features. After this game, things are gonna get interesting..... after all there still 2 PC games left. Both with 3 in the title.


EDIT: GVD did mention that they are looking at ways that PB streaming to services like PBBANS and Punkbusted could be implemented but is promising nothing for the final product.

First of all: most mods for any bf game suck. the only good mod i have ever played and in fact play exclusively now is project reality. no mod tools is not a big deal to most. And i imagine they will probably release them with battlefield 3 next year. the server files, those are not needed, you can still rent ranked/unranked servers which most people prefer anyway. saying that bf is going the way of IW is retarded.

I've been playing bf since the very first day of the WAKE ISLAND demo for 1942, i don't recall any tobruk demo...

the only issue i have with the info presented so far with the beta is this: If you pre-order from gamestop you must have it delivered to your house, it says no in-store pickup/delivery to get access to beta. now if you do this, you won't get the game till most likely day after launch or even the day after that. that sucks, i want the beta and the game on launch day without having to get my game through steam.

PBBans already cancelled their support for BFBC2.

If you want to setup an Anticheat Stream for this game, then stick to GGC-Stream.com.

As far as i remember there where no mod tools for BF1942 either at the beginning...(and still mods like MuRa's Parallel World got made).
No mod tools does not mean you will not see any mods,
as has been shown with Battlefield titles in the past.
The tools make it easier (if there IS that easier way) and less time consuming.
Not having them means you will need the more professional ranked tools to get to where you want to go.
(which mostly also require a more broad knowledge of 3d moddeling and map making... like heightmaps etc)
Only thing to hope is that Dice will support Modders with a bit of information on issues they will encounter during modding.

Even Battlecraft42 the map editor which never came out of beta was actually made by a modding communitiy member...
i think his name was Rex? who got hired by Dice for his tool.

I havent bothered with modding in BF2, but i think there no real official tools either or are there any out there?

As far as i can remember the most succesfull MOD in Battlefield franchise history would be without a doubt Desert Combat...( also done with no official modding tools)

The Tobruk SINLGEPLAYER demo was out a bit earlier then the Wake Island Mutliplayer demo.

And i have same problem as you... i want the boxed version and Beta access. No downloads through etailers please.

I played all of them, dc was pretty good but for the most part most mods are buggy and no where near finished, PR for bf2 is the first mod i have played that i play everyday, i dont even play vanilla anymore, havent for years. PR is the best thing to ever happen to bf.

Once the mods come out the community gets shattered. The best days of both DC and BF2 were the first days.

BC is so much more fun out of the box, It doesn't scream out mod me.
I was all about mod'n for years, BC just doesn't need it.
